So I bought the first compilation for my 6-year old. Seemed kind of harmless on quick glance. But as I'm reading it it can get kind of creepy. Plus Bone is always pining to "churn butter" with Thorn, the little vixen.

What do you think? Should I buy the next one or hope he forgets about it?

Your kid will survive. We survived a lot of subversive stuff in our youth, too.

Off topic: What are we to call Bone: Thugs-n-Harmony now that Thugs is the new n-word?

The books were written for a young audience. I thought it wholesome, but peeps out there might get upset that sorcery enters the storyline.

Issue 113 of Captain America still ranks as the best written comic book I ever read with fantastic art by the immortal Jim Steranko.

I read Superman, Hulk, etc in the 70s. Plenty of violence, but not nearly as disturbing as today's stuff. There is very little out there that is OK for kids today.

Isnt it all relative? Hulk was about as violent as you got. "HULK SMASH"

Have no idea what is in a comic book today, but what could they do? Death Ray that makes you turn to dust? Take limbs off you 1 at a time? Paper cuts

It's more like disturbing psychological mind-game stuff. Evil dude invades your momma's brain and she's trying to kill you now. stuff like that.

I was wondering what that was doing in a discussion of Bone...

Biggie: comics written for adults. So consider: a storyline where the heroes decide to mindwipe all the villains, rather than wait for their next "evil plan." The villains get pissed and start killing & raping the heroes' spouses. Wholesome stuff, huh? The characters with the boobs bigger than their heads is nothing in comparison.

Anyway, Bone is none of that..
