He looks like a guy you would see who sales pots & pans door to door.

I just added "The Sportswriters" as a "person" . It was a very creative idea.

Completely agree on Chet, North, & Mac

But Bernstein deserves at the least some serious consideration.

He has been the FOTS of the most popular sports radio station in Chicago for the last few years. He has reshaped (for good or bad) the way sports talk is done at that station. He has a line of butt sniffers a mile long that try to copy him.

Danny b brings nothing new to the table for me. Don't hate him, dont mind listening, but easily replaced in my mind. Grote for one could do his job.

I completely get that he is not liked by many. But I don't think this discussion is just about popularity ratings. It is about impact in the sports radio business. Since the North decline Bernstein has had the most impact of anyone in Chicago sports radio.

cancer is also the leading cause of death in america, isnt it? it might be heart disease, but you have to have a heart to have the disease. either way, its impacted the sports radio business.

I just dont agree. When he is gone, not missed that much. If he left for WLS, would he take a following outside of his ALS with him? I just dont think his departure would have nearly as much of a dent as many think it would have. His spot could be filled tomorrow and the station would move on and maybe gain listeners.

Of course, this probably means I must HATE him.

This list needs Jim Rome & Tony Kornheiser.

OK, maybe just Jim Rome.

Sportswriters, Swirsky, and Coppock. They were the trailblazers. Swirsky used to host a show at a bar called Buffoons and when someone made a dumb comment, the crowd would yell "BUFFOOOON!!!" The Sportswriters were on the radio long before TV and that was the only sports talk on radio for ages. You would not have Mac without Coppock, since he learned at the hem of the fur coat. I also remember Pat Benkowski at the early outset of talk radio also.
Tommy Williams will have to wait for the veterans committee.

For the inaugural class, all other answers are indeed wrong.

You want to put Burnsteeen or Les or some of the other guys on subsequent ballots, you can easily make a case to do so. These are the biggest three guys in sports talk in this city, and RPB also has them in the correct order of importance.

Mac's first radio job in Chicago was with Swirsk but I do agree about Chet.
