my kids are 7 and 9 and my wife coddles the shit out of them. They eat very little. Mac and cheese, pizza, grilled cheese, spaghetti.....that's pretty much it actually. They don't even eat peanut butter. Anyway we have to make them a separate dinner for them every night. Even then they pick at it like birds, but woooaaahh, they are interested in DESSERT! Anyway, is there ANYONE else out there that has to deal with this? When I was a kid, I was raised pretty much by my Polish grandparents, which meant I had to eat every goddam thing on the plate...liver, mushy brussel sprouts, canned peas, saurkraut. you name it, I ate it! |

You need to nip that in the bud. My wife's cousin has two kids. One is 16, and the other is 12, and they are still making separate meals for them. No fruits, no vegetables, just the usually fare you listed above (mac & cheese, pizza, etc...). When did this separate meal thing start with parents? My parents would have smacked me upside the head if I asked for a different meal. |

eat what's on the plate or go to bed hungry doesn't seem too complicated to me (i don't have kids so i can oversimplify everything) |

My parents were hippies, who went on to become Jainists. We only ate food references in Beatles songs. Glass onions, honey pie, walrus, things of that nature. |

My son is 4 and we are starting to get him to eat the same things as us now. Early on we made him the little kid food but that gets tiresome having to prepare separate things. We always thought he was picky but the more variety of food we give him the more we realize that he isnt picky, we were just being sort of lazy. Kid still wont eat veggies though. Loves fruit but hates veggies. Thank god for V8 Fusion. |

For the most part we eat the same meal and we always sit at the table eating together or (occasionally) in the living room together. Im a picky eater though. She's pretty good about trying things. Judging by the things you said they DO eat, they should have no issue with Chicken Parm or any cheese based dish. Start there and expand. And no, I never got a separate meal. My choice was eat or dont. |

Just eat McDonalds every night, Hatchet. They have their happy meals, you have your Big Mac, and the wife has her Southwest Salad. |

2 more things from my youth i will never ever eat again: 5/1$ (probably 2.99 each now) packs of Buddig lunch meat. i'm somewhat convinced this is what subway uses Chef Boyardee ravioli |
