So I won an online auction and after paying the guy sends me a message telling me I need to pay taxes for the item in order to complete the sale. I told him it wasn't going to happen because his business is in another state. If I am not mistaken I am only required to pay taxes if they have a physical location in Illinois or are registered with the state of Illinois. |

If I pay taxes in that state I would also be required to pay taxes in Illinois. That means I'll be taxed twice for the same purchase. http://www.nolo.com/legal-encyclopedia/ ... 29919.html |

I don't think you have to pay taxes to him, but technically you are supposed to pay it during your tax return. |

You don't even know what a write-off is, do you? |

Renounce your citizenship and declare your property a sovereign state. That one always seems to work |

It's a straight sales tax. Illinois is not owed a penny. |
