If you like watching professional golfers struggle this is the tournament for you. The leaders are -3. It's windy as hell and there are bogeys and doubles all over the course. A guy took an 11 on the incredibly tough 18th hole and Stenson had a shankapotomus. I have Keegan who is currently +2 with a lot of golf left to play.

I'm the last guy who should be commenting on any pro's play, but how does a professional ever take an 11 on a hole? I'm terrible and might take a 10 once per round, but someone playing everyday of his life should not be doing this.

They are playing much tougher courses. Doral is 7,500 yards. They have to deal with speedy greens, like we have not seen.

Kevin Na got a 16 on a hole a few years back.

How does that happen? I could probably only play my putter and take a 16 somewhere.

I was wrong. He took the 11 on #10. He hit 3 balls in the water.

He missed a putt for a 10.

It happens when a guy hits a bad shot and then thinks he can make up for that bad one by hitting
his next one perfectly instead of playing it safe and usually snowballs from there. These guys can
definitely get into that "Tin Cup" mentality at times. It is the caddy's job to pull them off the ledge
before they do something incredibly stupid like card something in the double digits.

The golf course I used to work at hosted a conference tournament a few years after I was out of high school, so when one of the kids came in and his card included an 18 on one of the holes, well, a couple of the kids working at the course did exactly what I would have done...

They got in a cart, drove out to the hole, and saw how many throws it would take for them to get the ball in the hole...needless to say, they each beat the 18...

...of course, I have no room to talk...I carded a 24 on a hole once in a practice round...and a 9 at districts...

He played the same hole with only a six iron, one year later, and he got a 5.

I took an 11 on a 320 yd par 4 last summer at the county open. Was playing really well and hit the ball great on
the front nine. Thought I could drive the green or right in front of it . Very tight hole with OB to the left. Hooked
two out of bounds before pulling out an 8 iron and put it in the left part of the fairway. So hitting six from that location
I hit a tree with a wedge and it flew out of bounds. Dropped again and hit 8 in front of the green, being sure to stay
under the tree this time. Chipped up and 2 putted. Went from +2 for the round to +9 in about 15 minutes. :eye:

Oh, and Hawg and Spanky saw me make a mess of a short hole last summer doing something similar. Trying to make
a stupid shot happen instead of chipping out and taking my medicine.

25 balls have gone in the water on #8. No one is going to want to come back here next year.

99 balls in the water. Terry Gannon (Joliet Catholic) made a funny and said the crowd gets a free taco at number 100.

Eldrick has two birdies in his first three holes, and trails by only four shots.

Followed by a 3-putt bogey. This course is playing like the US Open. I wouldn't be surprised if the winning score was over par.

Trump's guys have done an amazing reconstruction of the Doral course. Was it really out of play for only one year? The amount of excavation is staggering.

$18 million dollars to renovate the course.

Being so close to the lead I doubt he will withdraw today.

Why was it different when Rory did it?

It wasn't. You are the only one on here that says it was.

Yup. I think its a bit different to withdraw before your round starts or after a few holes on Friday than it is to walk off the course on the 68th hole of the tournament. That is just my opinion, nothing more.

The banks around the water were insane. Fun tournament to watch though.

This guy that just interviewed Patrick Reed today on the golf channel is a complete prick. For all 4 of you golf fans, find it and let me know if I am wrong.

You've stated this opinion several times, but you still haven't explained why it's different.

Scoreheading at its finest.
