I would like to know the location of that mountain where Xenu remains locked away. I would like to strongly kick his ass.

These thetans frighten me.

It is interesting that L. Ron Hubbard's actual first name is Lafagette. Not that there is anything wrong with that.

I think there are more people at Osteen's church on any one Sunday than there were at DePaul games for the entire season. That place is mammoth. And of course, no taxes!

For the love of God, how does anyone believe in Scientology? There are so crazy people in this world.

There are many ridiculous religious stories though.

They say its myth/fables

In its public statements, the Church of Scientology has been reluctant to allow any mention of Xenu. A passing mention by a trial judge in 1997 prompted the Church's lawyers to have the ruling sealed, although this was reversed.[52] In the relatively few instances in which it has acknowledged Xenu, Scientology has stated the story is a religious writing that can be seen as the equivalent of the Old Testament—in which miraculous events are described that are unlikely to have occurred in real life, assuming true meaning only after years of study. They complain of critics using it to paint the religion as a science-fiction fantasy.[38]
Senior members of the Church of Scientology have several times publicly denied or minimized the importance of the Xenu story, but others have affirmed its existence. In 1995, Scientology lawyer Earl Cooley hinted at the importance of Xenu in Scientology doctrine by stating that "thousands of articles are written about Coca-Cola, and they don't print the formula for Coca-Cola".[53] Scientology has many graduated levels through which one can progress. Many who remain at lower levels in the church are unaware of much of the Xenu story which is first revealed on Operating Thetan level three, or "OT III".[26][54] Because the information imparted to members is to be kept secret from others who have not attained that level, the member must publicly deny its existence when asked. OT III recipients must sign an agreement promising never to reveal its contents before they are given the manila envelope containing the Xenu knowledge.[54][55] It is knowledge so dangerous, members are told, that anyone learning this material before he is ready could become afflicted with pneumonia.[35]

It's nice for them to talk about myth/fables and compare to Old Testament but that was 5000 years ago. L Ron Hubbard created this in the 40s or 50s right?

You ever wonder if the Xenu crap is cover for telling the "high ranking" members that it's all a money making scam?

I mean to say, put something so preposterous out there that outsiders won't spend time looking for the more mundane, and more sinister, actual reason .... keep people looking at the silliness while they're running out the back door with people's wallets.

Perhaps not, but it's no less farcical than the Xenu story itself, and certainly more plausible.

Seriously? How is it any crazier than any religious story? They all contain things that are physically impossible and ridiculous. You just choose to pick on one because you've been socialized to believe others.

This is the one argument you could make that distinguishes Scientology from most religions. Other than that, in my mind, there is really no difference.

It's literally the exact same, except it is newer. I hate when religious people rip on Scientology for being silly.

You don't get rich writing science fiction. If you want to get rich, you start a religion.

- L. Ron Hubbard

That is a telling quote

Then again, Jesus and God probably said the same thing in private

Ten-four. See my above post.

Although that still doesn't explain why some people believe that people lived for 400 years but make fun of a religion that believes in aliens and H-bombs. People can believe whatever they want; but it doesn't make sense to me how they can make fun of another religion that has the same myths theirs does.

That's why I think Christianity and a lot of other religions were created early on. As a way to control the masses. Certainly monetary reasons for controlling everyone, as well.

Scientology didnt become a laughingstock until they made Hollywood A Listers their spokespeople (whether they intended to or not)

If Tom Cruise and John Travolta were the Pope, then Christianity would get the same ridicule

But as stated, its not that much different than the fairy tales told in many other religions
