I'm glad they didn't have a gun. Could have been much worse... |

Close to my home. Weird but I guess could have been worse. I read a bunch of the injuries were from the panic and commotion more than the knife. |

This is why I hate knives. Knives cost Lives. That's my mantra. The obviously need to be banned. |

Once again. We need to fix the Mental Health system here in America. Instead of sweeping it under the rug, underfunding and cutting of programs. I really think we need to re-establish live-in mental health facilities. |

I support the 2nd amendment and people's rights to defend themselves but if there are zero deaths, we can reasonably assume it would have been far worse with a gun right? Like back when the Newtown shooting happened some people kept bringing up the guy in Asia who stabbed 27 Kindergarteners. They all lived. That's the point, I think. |

But if the Kindergartners had concealed carry permits they'd have been safe. |

I suppose one could assume anything they wanted. For instance I could assume that existing gun laws don't need to be strengthened because they likely prevented this kid from obtaining one. That's not necessarily true though. |

That's not necessarily true though. Your assumption is a lot flimsier than mine. (and that's not even saying its false) But if this kid had a gun, we'd almost certainly be dealing with some death. |

I think it is so easy to overlook the real issue and turn this into another gun rights debate. Metal health has been one of the biggest issues in our country that was ignored. What else is making these kids commit these acts? How long have they been ignored? As much as I'm not a fan Obamacare it does make an effort to address it in a meaningful way. |

Its pretty hard to stop these things from becoming about guns but I agree. Its hard to see "getting serious about mental health" Not saying it cant happen, its just very unprecedented |

I think people are just tired of hearing about one and the other isn't nearly as polarizing. |

This area of town is in no way poor and I would be surprised if this kid's parents didn't have access to insured mental health care. When it comes to kids the parents either don't care to watch closely or admit their kid needs treatment. Another angle is this kid being bullied. For all schools try now they do t catch all. And also kids don't always want to tell that shit at home. I have seen this. Then a kid snaps and people go ?? |

IMO that's unfair to the kids. Even if bullying has been an issue it's something that should be dealt with and not laughed at or dismissed. |
