My parents (in Crest Hill) and my sister's family (in WI) are going to my brother's house in Frankfort (IL, not Germany -- I believe that one is spelled with a "u", but they sound the same). He is skipping the more traditional ham in favor of roast beef, which is just ducky with me. I am bringing baked scalloped corn. It's very easy to make and tasty. Unless you don't like corn.

The recipe, if anyone is interested:

Baked Scalloped Corn

1 box of Jiffy Cornbread Mix
2 Eggs
1 can cream corn
1 can whole corn (do not drain)
½ cup sour cream
1 stick butter, melted

Mix ingredients in order given (except butter). Pour into baking dish. Drizzle butter over mixture. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 to 40 minutes or until top is golden brown.

Unfortunately my wife keeps hosting the holiday get togethers so I have 6 adults and 3 toddlers coming not only for Easter but tonight and tomorrow too. Grateful I'm working tomorrow so I'll be gone most of the day but not looking forward to coming home to a house full of people tonight and tomorrow.

Frankfort is a good, solid 3 wood south of me.

Uh, my plans are to sleep late, rake leaves, do laundry, and watch the Sox game. Slight chance we have the mother and brother in law over for dinner, in which case I will BBQ some chicken.

See now that's the way it should be.

Going to Easter brunch at the "yact club" my parents belong to in Racine. $15 a person.
Probably stop at Woodman's on the way home. I need to buy a suit or two as well.

Easter Sunday this year doubles as the wedding anniversary for my wife and I. This year will mark 12 years that my wife has put up with my dumb ass.

Going to head to Oak Brook Terrace on Saturday and stay at the Hilton. Got tickets to see the Chicago Fire play the New England Revolution at Toyota Park.

Our church that we attend is in Naperville so we may go to one of the services on Sunday then drive to my parents place in Ottawa, IL. for a family celebration.

Leaving after work today to make the 4-hour trek to visit the family. Probably will just grill out at my mom's Sunday. We don't really celebrate Easter, per se.

awakened by children at the break of dawn as we leave out eggs which lead to Easter baskets for them

9:30 mass at St. Matthias followed by an Easter egg hunt. This was our first church together and one child was baptized there. We like to go back every once in a while and the hunt is fun for the kids.

2 brunch at union league club with my family. It is a buffet, which is great for the variety but bad because I usually overstuff myself.

Afterwards dinner with my in laws. This is where the day really starts to get long as my MIL is the type who wants to keep you captive as she has nothing she needs to wake up for the next morning. We usually stuff eggs and have a hunt for the big group of kids in the family.

My holidays are not relaxing. I tell myself it is better to have people want to spend time with you than not.

If you are going to Woodman's in Kenosha (50 and 94) you may want to plan a bit of extra time. Roadwork has the NB exit at 50 closed and you cannot make the left from WB 50 (coming from Woodman's) onto SB 94. Instead they take you on a little detour to the next entrance south.

Mrs. Scorehead and I are going to a 5:00 church service tomorrow night, then my Mother hosts the Family on Easter for a traditional Ham dinner.

Just got the news that we're closing at noon today. Awesome. I can get a nap in before my drive.

Today: Fasting, 2pm stations of the cross
Tomorrow: 20 mile run, Illinois Derby, Easter Vigil (doubtful -- too late and too long)
Sunday: 10am Easter Mass, maybe sneak over to Mr. D's for a few hours, then hosting dinner for my father, sister and her family. BBQ leg of lamb, grilled asparagus, garlic mashed potatoes. Hopefully warm and dry enough for cocktail hour on the patio.

I usually hate hate hate Sunday golf, but I would think that Easter is probably a pretty good day to go.

I'm surprised you're not getting out there with your current schedule. Raking traps is a lot more fun than raking leaves :)

I like Woodman's and would sometimes stop in their liquor department when I was up there to visit my sister -- good prices. I thought they were only in WI but recently discovered that they also have a store in Carpentersville which isn't all that far from Schaumburg. Their grocery prices are pretty good, too, and I've started doing some of my shopping there.

Since I'm up in Wisconsin a lot I buy all our beer and the occasional hard stuff (i.e gin for smuggling in to Arlington in the summer) at the Kenosha Woodman's. Good selection, low prices and less sales tax than Illinois. Wife likes to do the wine shopping and she's good at hunting down reasonably priced quality so she handles that side of the liquor cabinet.

Pick up my daughter at 11a, do the Easter egg hunt and basket and then just play outside and let her act as the buffer between my mom and I who is also coming over

Post in the golf thread after and let us know what you think of that course. I've heard really good things about it, but haven't had a chance to play it yet. Its on my list of courses I haven't played that I plan to this year. Mistwood in Romeoville tops that list. Glen Club in Glenview as well if I can get on there for cheap.

I've only played one of the courses there once before. For the price, I think it's a pretty good course. Most other places in this area cost substantially more.

It's a little chilly out there, so don't forget your jacket. Stan the Caddy always suggests you bring a lightweight jacket. That way the sun comes out, you play the jacket off the sweater.

Ah, that makes sense. That's a good call, Stan.
