Someone here has to have the story of what happened between Shakey and North. This has been eating away at me for years. I always liked Shakey despite the horrific toupee. |

He doesn't have a toupee. Maybe Dolphin will share the story. I'm too tired and need some sleep. It was an incredibly juvenile and petty act by North though. |

I cannot remember the story. Shakey was one of the most talented guys at the Score during the golden era. He wasn't a guy I wanted to hear for 4 hours but he did so many funny things to add to shows. He was kind of like Billy West on Stern's show. |

Being "TALENTED" at the Score is like being a guy who can make an open shot in an IM basketball game. Did some hanging out with Shakey back in the day and you see what the guy is. He is a good guy, knew his stuff and a guy that chose to make radio his occupation, he would have been fine on the air, but he is ajust a guy, which at the Score I guess makes you good. At the same time, when I say you get know what a guy is really like, Jessie Rogers. What an asshole and an idiot. Especially before sports talk radio took off and even sports media in general, wasn't a desired career, guys that went to Columbia didnt go to be on the air, they went to be producers and interns. That was the immediate goal. |

It's been awhile but I recall Shakey being pretty clever, at least by comparison. I thought he did something that North perceived as disloyal or underhanded, or something, so North had him fired and blacklisted. Nobody would ever say what it was though. I guess I'll just have to book Northy for a $2,000 "Q&A" where I can delve deep into his psyche. http://www.thuzio.com/mike-north.html |

That was the immediate goal. Shakey made funny, well produced bits. He did voices. He made good song parodies. These aren't things you would want to hear for an entire show but he helped to make all the other shows better. He was also a boxing expert but I guess there is no need for that anymore |

North saw that as going outside "The circle of trust". Stories I heard, just always confirmed Mike North as a complete jerk. Your North's guy as long as you bow down as hale Mike North. You choose not to, then you are dead to him. No 1/2 way point. WITH OR AGAINST. |

My sister was friends with him at Hartford. Still amazed everyone missed recruiting this guy. Nobody gave him an offer, except Hartford because he played at a Nearby HS. Hartford is a school known for producing Teachers. Thats who goes to school there, not 7 foot future NBA'ers, or even D league guys! Dont think he blended into the real world very well after leaving the cozy confines of Hartford. Pretty much the highlight of a trip to Hartford. Great place to go die. |

Bull & Bear show was initially produced by Shakey. Not to mention his recurring character, Sidney (?) Crunchnic |

I take it that Shakey came up with Shaer's "24 second Shot Clock"? I dug that bit. My favorite malaprop came from him as a caller screwed up once and Shakey said to Shaer..."We'll give 'em a clean cock again." |

So leaving work I was leering at a woman's breasts from a safe distance (banner day).* As I get closer, I look up at the guy she was walking with, and it's none other than Shakey. What a coincidence! He apparently does some kind of work in the Prudential Bldg as he had his ID on a lanyard. In hindsight I think I should have struck up a conversation but I don't really roll like that. I kind of regret it. In any case, I think the woman he was with is his wife or girlfriend and she's quite pretty, and well-endowed. Best I could do was snap a couple of pics from a distance. ** *I admit the inherent creepiness of this. ** And this. |
