Any tips other than the obvious touristy stuff....Already done that on other trips.

Staying in LaJolla so golf is happening tomorrow and then that heated rivalry of Padres / Mariners.

Thinking about day drinking and lunch in Pacific Beach.
Any good recommendations on other Stuff in this little party town?

Also thinking about a fishing charter but no idea if that's a good idea or a waste of a day here?

Not sure if you're a beer guy, but I would say you absolutely have to hit up Alpine Beer Co. in Alpine. It's about a 30-minute drive from SD. Some of the best IPAs in the world there. Bring me back some Nelson, and I'll reward you handsomely!

Have a drink at "Top of the Hyatt". Great view of the bay and the USS Midway...and there's a variety of restaurants and shopping at the adjacent "Seaport Village".

Also, if you haven't been there before you should check out "Old Town". Interesting shopping, historical landmarks and homemade tortillas abound. :alien:

La Jolla is the best area. Aside from the zoo, I just found going up and down the coast to the different beaches was the most fun. I have never found that much else to be compelling in San Diego. The gas lamp district is overrated. The beaches are awesome.

BTW, Petco is one of my least favorite parks. Terrible design.

Noted: Donkey show, beer and beach.

I love PETCO but if it's in another local I can see your point.

What don't you like about it? I like that it's not a cookie-cutter neo-retro like New Busch, Coors, etc

Petco- very poor concourse design with a lot of dead ends and unneeded staircases. The area around the stadium is boring. You end up at Tilted Kilt after the game. The only remotely interesting thing is the urban building design in left field. The rest of it is forgettable. I've been to all but three NL stadiums.

What about PNC?

All fair concerns. I guess I just like Petco a lot from a gameplay standpoint. It was a breath of fresh air to have a new park play so pitcher-heavy, especially when the marine layer rolled in. Of course, now that no one can hit the ball anymore, every park is kind of a pitcher's park, but from 2004-2008, it was a treat to see a park force something other than mashing.

I've stayed on Coronado both times I was out there, so I have no idea how close it is to you. The restaurants up and down the main strip are just phenomenal; though, a bit pricey.

The aircraft carrier is neat, but I'm not sure I'd go out of my way for it.

There are some places listed here that you can check out:
