In the market for an engagement ring, They are silly expensive. Anyone with a good experience with a place preferably in the Schaumburgish area I'd greatly appreciate it.

Use Blue Nile. Do it all online and save yourself time and money.

Go to CA Jewelers in downtown Chicago. Ask for Susie. Great prices and service.

You can't go to heaven selling stolen merchandise.

The best way is if you can find or know anybody that might be a wholeseller.

Aren't women the ones proposing nowadays? You may want to hold out for that.

You go down to Jewelers row after you know exactly what you want. You can go into 5 s Wabash, and see 3 or 4 guys, ask how much it will be to get what you want made.

The problem is jewelry is sold like furniture and used cars. You have no clue what the real price should be. Blue Nile has the best prices and infinite selection on diamonds. My only complaint is that their settings are on the weak side.

Yup. The prices are so low that many jewelers actually buy loose diamonds from them too.

That is another option. Get the loose diamond from them and then have someone else create the setting. That is only if you can't find one you like on Blue Nile though since it is obviously more work.

You can't go to heaven by lazily misapplying geographically incongruous memes.

Are you spending three months salary on it?

The wife swears by Flaherty in Arlington Heights. http://www.flahertyjewelers.com/

But I am clueless when it comes to this stuff. I think I bought her engagement ring at Service Merchandise, back when such places existed. It didn't cost much. I told her we were going to invest in a house, not a ring.

Here's what I did. You go buy yourself a diamond mine.

There's probably one around Schaumburg somewhere. Look around.

You're going to want one that is already staffed. I don't think the pay is too good so be prepared to sell off quickly.

Have them find the biggest diamond they can get without killing too many people. Over/Under about 5, but it's really your preference. Then finish that sucker off.

The look in her eye will make it all worth it for you.

Not the workers so much.

But you.
