I tried the pay it forward thing twice at Starbucks. The first time was fine, the second time the person behind me had ordered like 5 drinks. The cashier at the window gave me the chance to back out but I already committed to it and didnt want to look like an asshole.  I probably wont do it again unless the person in front of me does.

I just did it the other day, for a mom and her kids, made me feel good.

My favorite act of charity is when you give money to people who can afford to pay $4 for a cup of coffee.

Good point

I give my cash to Slim the bum who hangs out on the street outside Starbucks.

Yeah, its sort of cool and I always wonder if the person behind keeps it going or not. Seeing as how this one made the news, I would guess not

You should have challenged him to dump the coffee over his head.

the fact is, its NOT 378 people buying drinks for strangers. its 376 people buying buying drinks for themselves, and one person buying for two people

What about the fact that 378 people ordered basically the exact same thing? That's what is crazy. Right?

I mean, not one person had to spend more or the person behind them than what they planned to spend on themselves. Just a bunch of jerks, right?

I do it for serverice people in uniform . One time the waitress asked me if I knew them ,said nope. She went over and told them they came and tanked me. I replied it was me who was doing the thanking. I make it a habit to approach anyone in military uniform and thank them for serice or a vet if they are wearing a device showing they are one.

exactly. the news makes it seem like a huge deal. the fact is only one person paid for two people. it happens everyday. its not news and the world is still hell.

Just sayin' .... you may have been looking for the word 'apparel' for clothes and 'insignia' for, say, a purple heart they would almost certainly never show in public barring some peculiar circumstance. 'Device' would be like, say, a prosthetic or a heart monitor ... or a thermos-sized plaid vibrating dildo with Mohammed's face on it.

I buy coffee for any Muslim women who can handle thermos-sized dildos.
