If you lined up everyone (over 21) on earth, what would the average height difference be between everyone?

The average height difference would be zero.

you guys dont get it.

if you took everyone in the world over 21 (unless theyre hot) and you lined them up side by side in chromeillogical order... and you recorded the height difference between the first and second person, say .01", and then you did that to the 2nd and 3rd person, say .13", and you kept doing that until you were done, you would end up with a lot of numbers. then, take all of those numbers and add them together, then divide by how many measurements you took. that would give you the average height discrepancy from every adult on the planet..

Yes, the average difference would be zero. If one guy is 5'8 and another guy is 6'5, then the difference between A and B is +9 inches and the difference between B and A would be -9 inches. The average of those two differences would be zero.

If you are looking at only absolute values of one comparison, then it is an entirely different scenario. Obviously the lowest a difference could be would be zero, and the highest would be the difference between the shortest person and tallest person (according to current estimates the shortest person is 1'9" and the tallest person is 8'3" which is a 6.5' differnce.) Assuming that heights are roughly allocated around an exponential curve of some sort, the majority of differences will be fairly small -- i.e., the key information you need is the standard deviation from the mean. In the US, we use a baseline of 70" as the average height with a standard deviation of 3"... this means that 68% of men fall within a 67"-73" range, and 99.5% of men fall in a 64"-76" range. Just plug in the values for the world (as opposed to the US) into this and you'll have your answer (since the variable is absolutely continuous):

They wouldn't zero out if you chose not to waste time by fabricating useless results. Why on earth would anyone compare a to z given the data desired?

The average height difference would be an almost infinitely small number, due to the number of people on Earth. There are probably 1 billion people who are so close in height that it is impossible to distinguish between them.

If you folded a piece of paper in half and then kept folding it in half, making it smaller and smaller, after how many folds would there be nothing left?

What a stupid question. After like 23 folds you would have a tower that hit the moon.

you can only fold a piece of paper 7 times, regardless of its size.

If you stood ten feet from a fence and moved 75% closer to the fence each time, at which point would you reach the fence?

Someone did it 12 times once with a 4000 ft piece of toilet paper.

Correct. Though a standard piece of paper can not be.

The busted that on mythbusters. You can fold a piece of paper more than 7 times.

thats like asking if you only smoked half a bowl of weed with crack sprinkles every two minutes, how long would it take to finish the bowl.

you're short a variable in being able to definitively figure that one out. you have to know how long it takes you to get back to the crackspot.
