I have my 20th coming up this Saturday and I only had to ponder it for about 30 seconds before
deciding I was not going to attend. I have not attended the 5 or 10 year versions either. Have
you guys gone, and if so was it better or worse than you were expecting? I literally have stayed
in touch with maybe two people from high school.

I went and had a blast. I'm mostly still friends with the people I hung out with, so it might have been a fun night out anyway. I liked seeing some people and catching up.

I didn't go, but my class reunion facebook page was basically an argument from the local townies about how pissed they were that they had it "in the city" and how it was going to be more expensive because of it and the people who actually went away to college who wanted to have it in a place that was fun instead of a place where you can basically have a class reunion every weekend.

I believe there was even an unofficial reunion the same day at the local place. I was more than happy to avoid both. I guess 10 years later you can still have stupid high school drama.

About to start planning my 20th Grammar school reunion with a few people.

Absolutely. But when those reunions are getting up there in years, you will almost certainly be taking home some damaged goods.

I don't get the whole attitude of not wanting to see people from the past. Did you grow up in a John Hughes movie with James Spader picking on you because he was rich?

I don't see my friends as frequently as I would like, so on some level the reunion was just a night out with the boys. However, there are all kinds of interesting people out there from my past who I never get the chance to speak to. It's almost like speed dating where you get 15 minutes of funny or interesting stories from a person and then move on. I never really get to hang out with old teammates. There are people in my profession who I don't get to see socially much. I also kind of like to go up to those people who I never had interaction with and get to know them as an adult. There are plenty of girls who I only really spoke to on a stupid, testosterone filled high school boy level and now I can be the smooth mfer I am today without worrying about being on the make.

It takes a lot for me to look back at people and still dislike them over teenage stupidity. I hope others don't hold it against me either.

I was complaining early on that the DJ should have been playing music from roughly our middle school/high school years instead of current crap that no one likes. As the drinks started flowing I began to complain louder and louder and in more uncertain terms that this DJ is a piece of shit and he sucks. Turns out he was someone's husband who was doing it for free to help us out. I'm just the worst.

My ten year was a few years back, and it ended up being cancelled due to the lack of response from people. Everyone just stays connected via social media now, so "reunions" are pretty worthless.

The actual reason for the cancellation: Not enough scissors lifts available for rental.

The only thing worse than a douche is a young douche.
