Found this picture while cruising around the Internet. I don't know if it's a fake or not but very curious indeed if real.

That red cross appears to be floating.

Yeah i agree the cross looks odd but what bothered me was that it appears to belong to a school district.

Upon further investigation... it seems the district has been pressured into returning the tank.
They thought they would need this tank to take down walls and extract students in active shooter scenarios.
Scary. I can't believe anyone thinks like that.

It's got the word rescue on it. So, it's obviously used to rescue students from stuff.

students at Morse High School’s Auto Collision and Refinishing Program got to work painting it.

The cross looks odd, but I guess students might use a stencil wrong??

What a relief! It will fight terror with teddy bears! And it's not a tank... because no kid who still digs teddy bears is stupid enough to think this thing crashing thru a wall and scooping them up is a tank!
Some priceless quotes:

"There will be medical supplies in the vehicle. There will be teddy bears in the vehicle," Littlejohn said. "There will be trauma kits in the vehicle in the event any student is injured, and our officers are trained to give first aid and CPR" -This guy is the San Diego Unified School District Police Chief. Is this a common thing, that school districts have their own Police Department?

"The value that this defensive tool would bring cannot exceed the value of retaining the public's trust, confidence and perceptions of how we will protect our students"
Defensive tool? Spinnin! Spinnin!

"Unified spent nearly $5,000 transporting the vehicle to San Diego and it expects maintenance to cost $500 a year."
You got to be shitting me. Maintenance at $500 a year? Replace a fuel pump or put brakes on the thing or replace the tires at a cost of $500 a year? Did anyone actually think we'd buy that?

“It’s not the militarization of schools. The vehicle has been stripped of all offensive equipment and it’s been repurposed for humanitarian purposes,” Littlejohn again. Then why not just use a school bus? What kind of events would necessitate an armored vehicle??? I bet you know, Littlejohn...

"In the event of a school shooting, wildfire, earthquake, tsunami or flood, district police could drive the MRAP to a classroom to evacuate up to 40 children"
Well 40 lucky kids will be saved by a former offensive battle tank when the next major tsunami hits greater San Diego.

For the record, these School District cops have AR-15's in their cruisers trunks.
What are they arming up for?

I prefer my cops to be tankless.

Teddy bears always make me feel better about military vehicles.

All of these government agencies are arming up for the eventual confrontation with the general populace.

Not saying this is real or even close to needed, but the Ferguson issue brought to light the money given to local police for items just like the EM50.

Now, how many of the police depts are going to say "No, we dont need it, we are good here!"

Everyone one of them is going to take what they can get!
