Friend of mine runs a dog / cat rescue here. She posted something on Facebook earlier. There is a pregnant dog( small, 40 lbs) in Florida who is due to be put down unless they can find someone to foster her and her puppies until they would be weaned ( looking at December sometime.) They will bring her here free of charge and provide the food as long as they have someone willing to take on the task. Im just spreading the word. If you know someone who is kind hearted enough to be able to do this, pm me and we will set something up. They just gave this dog one more extension so obviously time is a big factor .

If my wife and I didn't work such long hours, we would definitely be in for this. Between work and some time coming up that we will be out of town, its not an option. Cute dog though, hope somebody can take her!

You should post this on Facebook on any of the various dog rescue sites. I get all the updates from Midwest Lab rescue and they are always posting things like this...and they seem to always find a taker very quickly.

Wow I realize in some situations these shelters don't have a choice but fuck that's intense.

I'd love to hear an update on what happened to the pooch. I may puke if they actually put it down.

Why not take the dog to a no kill shelter.. I think PAWS Chicago is a no kill shelter.

Update: The rescue found no takers but in happy news , my friend who runs the shelter will be taking her into her home personally . In her response to my query about the situation, "thanks for trying but don't worry I won't let her die ". I may take take the mom myself once the puppies are weaned.

listen to what she said to you. i bet there is no puppies for long after they are weaned. she is going to take the babies and sell them, then put the dog on craigslist
