I was watching a tour group from Japan the other day. Every single person had one of the four-wheel hybrid spinners. I found the sight - the parade of these spinners - to be quite humorous.

Then again, I was with a tour group from Chicago for a few days (in Rome) and watched some of these senior citizens pack suitcases as large and heavy as they were.

So how do you pack? I had my 22" carry on (TravelPro Crew 8) with me for this trip. Packed three shirts, two pants (and obviously the clothes I flew out on), a bunch of Tide sink packs, and my camera bag for my personal item. Received a bit of a shopping list in Rome so I bought a small messenger bag to pack those things in - ended up checking the TravelPro on the way home. All told the camera bag weighed more than anything.

Ordinarily I would bring the RedOxx AirBoss but that proved impractical for this trip.

I put a bunch of stuff in those vacuum bags, which in turn go in a big yellow canvas bag until I hit 40 pounds.
