I never paid attention to this guy before but what he already has accomplished is beyond belief. Why he does it is beyond mortals like us to comprehend. It's on the Discovery channel and the pre-show showed highlights of his walking across the Grand Canyon. It's unreal!

My kids can't wait until it starts.

We have a slack line between two trees in our yard. Our son is especially interested in tightrope walking.

I haven't shown him Karl's unfortunate demise.

Someone else posted it, but it's on a 10-second delay, so if he slips we won't get to see the resulting impropmtu live-action Wile E. Coyote fall ... until someone puts it on the internet anyway.

I hope he's not mic'd up ... I'm a believer and all but his ... we'll call it 'religious patter' ... is kinda annoying.

His spotter guy (dad? uncle?) looks like the Lebowski that was in the wheelchair.

Ten things you don't want to hear before walking on a tightrope between skyscrapers:

10. "who told you to spray WD40 on the cable?"

9. Cable Dis!

8. Dad,I'm geigh

7. Nic,the girl on the 41 floor is flashing you.

6. Who's the smartass with the remote control plane?

5. Remember more internet buzz if he slip's off.

4. Theo is pissed you might make a bigger splash than Maddon!

3. I think it's taut,but what do I give a shit?

2. Hey Nic,do your balls curl up too when you look down?

1. "Nic,did I tell you I'm doing your wife?"

This cat is going to die.

Seriously,I can't believe this is allowed. We are getting closer to Ahnold's "Running Man" flick.

I wish Richard Dawson was hosting this.

Why wouldn't he train in cold weather?

I get the theatrics and everything but I hope that's a lie.

Now that would be amazing!

I'll go with Chuck Woolery.

Dawson did a fine job in Running Man,though.

Am I a bad person if I hope he didn't?

So... the Discovery Channel has a new show where a guy allows himself to be eaten by an anaconda? Sounds normal.

I would think anyone watching is tuning in to see if he falls.

I would not wish death upon someone, but I won't feel bad at all.

I prefer watching a giant snake getting swallowed.

Seems like a fairly large miscalculation to have a 19 degree angle vs. 15.

Post subject:  Re: Nik Wallenda: The Greatest Daredevil

I remind myself that, like most 'carnival' acts, there's a degree of trick to it - along with scads of talent, of course - but my guess is it's being represented as considerably more dangerous than it really probably is. But again, it's essentially a carnival act, so they have to sell it as scarier than it really is. The pro-wrestling type pre-filmed 'promo' packages are helping to sell this increased sense of danger to the viewer.

I'm not saying this is easy in any way. I'm saying that it's probably closer to a 3 out of 10 than the 8 it seems like to us (10 out of 10 being getting a blowjob from a hungry cannibal).

I see where they showed some gizmo that had a number assigned to the tension ... kinda surprised they showed that ... there's got to be some level of 'trade secret' to this 'trick', so to speak, and I figured that would be part of it - meaning the other 100 people in the world that do this sort of thing probably could glean something from that number as well as looking at the rigging that we could spend the next 10 years looking for and not find.

I was hoping this would be over before the Hawks start at 8pm ... hopefully he gets his ass out there soon.

Richard Dawson hosting this would probably be the lead story.

This is almost as amazing as the time David Copperfield made the Statue of Liberty disappear.

I don't know if I can watch this.

It's kind of freaking me out. It's making me drink.

I'm at Darko's watching this and we both had the same feeling but couldn't come up with the right word for it. He doesn't "deserve" to die, but it's certainly what he should expect going into this.

The guy seems like a normal everyday guy. Why he keeps doing this,I can't explain.

Probably shouldn't say he's a "down to earth" guy when that's the one thing he doesn't want to be at the moment.
