with my 8 year old. Should be fun.

It's a dinner/dance.

Not sure what to expect but a lot of 3rd graders singing along to Taylor Swift

The other coach of our softball team has had beer on his breath (he's a close talker) at two of our saturday practices. I imagine a few of the Dads will actually pre game it a bit

Who's staging a dance for eight-year-olds? Weird.

I don't quite get the concept. Is there a mother son dance?

Ya think?

It seems pretty common and at ages much younger.

What age is appropriate for a Father Daughter dance?

We didn't start having school dances until 6th grade, so tail end of 11, 12, I guess?

Yeah, I think with a parent kid dance a little younger is ok.

Maybe Curious Hair doesn't realize that you are going with your own daughter, and not asking other daughters to be your date.

Actually they had a kids dance for 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade too. I was weary of that one. I got there and it was 90% girls and the boys that were there wanted nothing to do with them

C'mon, he's Rogers Park Bryan, not Trailer Park Bryan. Give me some credit.

It just never occurred to me that 2nd/3rd graders would want to go to a dance, is all.

Trailer Park Bryan is a noted Sox fan and a supporter of the violent attack on Royals' base coaches. You may know him as IkeSouthSide.

I was telling Bagels we have a few more characters here at the office that people would make mults about, but I feel like people will think Im exaggerating. Like the guy who looks exactly like Paul Bearer and is in the bathroom as much as Goggles is in the kitchen.

But anyway...

I took our daughter to a couple of those (3rd and 4th grade). It's mostly a bunch of kids running around or just hanging out in groups talking and drinking Koolaid. A few will dance but always with each other. The Dads stand off to the side talking - occasionally participating in a slow dance, or perhaps the obligatory electric slide. It's worth doing but not as sentimental as it sounds.

Rpb, the best thing you could do for your daughter is miss this event because you are a travelling salesman.

RPB,
I had one Father/Daughter dance when my little girl was in the girl scouts. I still remember it like it was yesterday. Do yourself a favor and get some pictures taken.
