Cover story in Time about this. Just another symptom and/or result of our Modern Gilded Age. Rich people treating poor people like commodities. (I'm sure there might be some poor people here who defend this practice as "good business". Where I come from we call those people suckers.) Management is rarely required to undergo personality tests.

Reminds me Voight-Kampff test from Blade Runner.

This shit sucks and you're right about what it makes the work force into. I can get fired for smoking a joint at a concert on a weekend 1 month ago but my boss can snort coke and do whatever.

At the end of it all "they" want a highly mobile/pliable workforce that will work for basic food and shelter.

“So many centuries of men living side by side and still so much hate, so much destruction, so much fanaticism stored up in eyes that do not want to see and in hearts that do not want to love!

“The good things of the earth, monopolized by a handful of people; the culture of the world, confined to cliques. And, on the outside, hunger for bread and education. Human lives -- holy, because they come from God -- treated as mere things, as statistics. I understand and share this impatience..."

And this is your grandson, huh? Oh, wonderful boy! Yeah, he's a good boy. Now I know why tigers eat their young.
