First, are any of them really left? Was there another band they have been with until this weekend/ Phheeesh?

Second, could a real deadhead afford these tickets?

Third, when you pull into a garage that says 6'5" height limit...and your Van has that plastic cap on it, making it about 8 feet tall...guess what happens next...SMASHH....I should have taken a Picture!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What makes this any more of a "huge, pathetic money grab" than any other concert? Or at least any concert but a wildly popular band?

Not sure why the NYT has an axe to grind with the Dead. This was billed as the final shows with the four remaining members, celebrating 50 years together. The unbelievable demand for tickets shows that is something that the fans wanted. This is one of the greatest rock bands in history, wrapping up a 50 year run, by playing three shows at the venue of Jerry's last two shows. What is so sinister about that?

The tickets for these shows are nowhere near as expensive as The Stones or McCartney, who trot their old asses on stage every couple of years. What about acts like KISS or Ozzy, who have billed tours as the final tour ever, only to go back on the road in a few years?

Calling this a "huge, pathetic money grab" is just stupid. Whoever tweeted that is probably just pissed that the shows aren't in NYC.

No such thing as a "huge, pathetic money grab", unless you are the sister of a mass murderer whose blessed wedding day got ruined......

I'm not sure there is worse smell than the combo of Patchouli, weed and BO.

Patchouli and B.O. is a bad combination. Patchouli is everything you don't want to smell all at once.

I will never understand The Dead or Jimmy Buffett phenomenon. They make an occasionally listenable song.

I never got the Buffett thing. The whole community/family thing is cool, and the parties are off the hook, but the music never did it for me, so I never went to a show. If I never heard Margaritaville again, I would be fine with it.

Give "Living and Dying in 3/4 Time" a listen.

You also have to mentally put his most popular songs out of your mind. Buffett has some great music that's overshadowed by making truck loads of money and some overplayed songs. It's very country-sounding, but there's some great, simplistic songs in his catalog.

My fav's:
Brand New country Star
Peanut Butter Conspiracy
Great Filling Station Holdup
Ringling, Ringling
Frank and Lola

Honorable mention for his cover of "Brown Eyed Girl". The song is ridiculously overdone and tired, but his version was pretty damn cool.

These are both terrific songs, and I would add Migration and We Are The People Our Parents Warned Us About to the list.
