Chapter 10 is just lightning and meteors. http://www.mill-creek-systems.com/HighLift/chapter10.html |

of course you wittingly reply with information that doesnt even come close to the topic at hand. this "space elevator" in your own fucking op post is only like 9 miles high, is not tethered to low earth orbit, is not made of carbon nanotubes, and is not even a space elevator its just a huge tower with a launch pad on top that will topple over in the slightest wind. do some ACTUAL research before you try to outsmart me, mr north. |

Love when Ike gets all scientific over nothing...and I mean really nothing. Saw the article, saw that it has been proposed numerous time and numerous questions go along with it...including high winds, meteors, lightning....and probably another 2 things not mentioned.... Thus made no attempt to outsmart our local crazy scientist nor did I desire to or did any research on the the issue. ![]() |

yeah and i hate when you play dumb and then prove youre actually being an idiot and i try to correct you but you just dig your dick into a male butthole like someguy on a tuesday night. the two articles you linked, the OP and the "research" one, are NOT the same concepts! VERY DIFFERENT IDEAS AND THEY DONT EVEN DO THE SAME THING. one is actually an elevator- the carbon nanotube ribbon that ACTUALLY EXTENDS ALL THE WAY TO LOW EARTH ORBIT. that might actually work because the weight that hangs in "outer space" is held up there by the earths centrifugal forces. wind wouldnt knock it over as long as the ribbon doesnt break, and physical calculations say carbon nanotube is the only substance known to man that MIGHT be capable of holding up. its not proven though because its never been built. the other, the one in the OP, is just a really tall inflatable raft that has a launch pad on top so they can save a whopping 30% on rocket fuel costs, because a huge amount of fuel is required to launch from the ground. but theyre only launching 10 miles from the ground and it doesnt matter because it wont even work- the first wind its toppling over. like i said, they will never build this and its just a marketing ploy |
