I was in a pool and two kids were throwing a football in it. They were talking and I couldn't help but overhear.

Kid 1: Who is your favorite quarterback?
Kid 2: I don't know.
Kid 1: What about Brett Favre?
Kid 2: Oh, I don't know who that is. I really like Johnny Manziel though.
Kid 1: Yeah, he's good. Tom Brady is my favorite quarterback.

I'm not sure I want to live in a world that is run by people who know Johnny Manziel but not Brett Favre. Please hold on as long as possible good dolphin, Dr. Kenneth Noisewater, and jimmypasta.

Most offensive thing I've read on this board. It's a sick world out there.

We live in a country captivated by the US Women National Soccer Team, Ronda Rousey and the X Games.

There are worse things than clueless kids.

Rousey is her own thing. her popularity is from her being dominant.

Womens soccer is from the brainwashing in the minivans "You girls can do that too....Caprisun?"

X games, thats a tough one for me. As a former surf punk and calling for an X games before a X games existed, much of it still falls into FIGURE SKATING and Judging, which I then cant consider real. However, guy that gets the highest on a skateboard vert is really cool and is a skill....but not sure the burnout vibe or "Yeah, I can just do this without practice isnt great"

Agreed, at the extreme ends skateboarding is pretty cool to watch, on occasion. But then again, I'm of the generation that enjoyed Wide World of Sports where once every blue moon they would have the best surfers in the world or the cliff divers in Mexico. They were really extreme, not 20+ competitors repeating 98% of the same things over and over, nor filmed with 20 cameras on a tv set. Or cynically making millions off of endorsements.

I don't need an entire block of programming of it, but a substantial portion of the country apparently does. That a version of it made the Olympics is when I really cut back on watching the Olympics. (Ice dancing, synchro swimming, moguls...bleech)

The same segment of the population that knows Money Manziel, but not Favre.

I know they have their followings, but its more of a TV event...almost an informercial sport. Everyone is muti sponsored trying to sell stuff to kids.

BRick, JORR & Dolphin have said it a million times, the NFL is sprinting down the TV event/infomercial sport road, so I'd tread lightly there. The League's multiple sponsors would agree.

That's my nephew. He has zero interest in the X Games.

At least they weren't complaining about Obama changing the name of a mountain.

To think it's previous name was Denali. Much cooler than that of a dead prez who really didn't do much (& didn't like his VP much either)

I was talking with my own dad on Friday & he had no idea who they were. He's semi-retired, but still fairly sharp & engaging.

I must admit to being a bit jealous.
