the title says it all! Construction worker pay soars as homebuilders hunt for labor then you get confirmation as you read the article! $25 hr x 3% = $25.75 Soaring out of control. Top guys get $50 an hour and you dont have a crew of those guys. |

even the unions run on average at $30 an hour. fuck, even union supervisors only make $32!!! granted they have good benefits (health care paid for, and ~$5/hr into retirement).... yes like you said its about a $50/hr overall package and most of the non union shops have guys at that level but only 1 or 2, the rest are just indians making $20/hr with no bennies. just another bullshit article. i really should have been a journalist. i bet the guy who did that article made $10k last month |

...or you could just ask someone that paid guys to build houses for the last 15 years....might tough to find someone like that though. |

Construction workers have it pretty easy actually. Most of them get 3 months off every year. |

 if u think its an easy job try it sometimeAnd not many have 3 months off, most have to work when its 20 below. And most that actually do get time off are taking a huge pay hit because theyre on unemployment VERY few actually make enough to sit back 3 months a year when its cold and not worry about it. Contrustion is a brutal job. Its not like it used to be 20+ years ago when it was fun. |

Teachers don't get the benefit of the big "pay hit" because they can't take unemployment when they are off. |
