My car won't allow me to start it. The anti-theft light is blinking and I have no clue how to reset or override it. I disconnected the battery but that did nothing. If I can't get it started I will probably have to disconnect the battery because all the interior controls are stuck "on".

Chrysler 300. I'm pretty sure it's not the ignition switch. I recall someone else I know having a similar problem with a different car and they had to reset the anti-theft thing or something.

Nope

That sucks. Had this happen to one of my keys once. Its the microchip. You might need a key ordered from a dealer.

Sounds like an ignition switch..they did have recalls on Chryslers for the switch. Is it an 08?

The key turns. At first my key wouldn't unlock my doors. Then I disconnected the battery and now the unlock the doors but the anti-theft light is blinking. Something tells me that I wasn't supposed to bother the battery

Likeca dumbass I was bored n chewing on my key @ a safety seminar ..crushed the chip, the key worked fine on the doors and even started the engine but it would shut off in half a second... I don't think its your key, sounds electrical ..like an ignition switch or a bad fuse.

Read the whole thread. Not going into details but it does sound like ignition switch.

That's what they told the person I know that had a similar issue and they were wrong. They paid about $900 just to find out it was a simple fix.

Could it be a burnt out fuse in your fusebox? Is there an "ant-theft" fuse that maybe if pulled will bypass the issue?

I'm not a car mechanic, but just trying to help.

Honestly sounds like your key is okay just a switch problem. Did you try to move the key around in the ignition while turning?

I don't know if this will help but o have a Pontiac the kids drive and sometimes a "security" light comes on the dash and it cuts the ignition circuit. The remedy for that is tur the key to the on position one click short of cranking. Sit like that 15 minutes and try to start then.

The dash shouldnt stay lit when the key is removed thats why it sounds like a switch prob

I had something similar with the bad key. My dad tossed the keys and the landed on the concrete. Everything worked until you tried to start and then it just doesn't crank.

I believe the mechanic said it logs an event in the car so if you hook up a diagnostic tool you should the problem. Can you get the car to an autozone

New keys cost hundreds now because of that damn chip. If that is the problem you can buy them on eBay or Amazon and call a lock smith. I did three set for a hundred that way where the dealership wanted 239 a set
