i think the old thread got whacked?

anyway, just timed myself this morning... never done that... was curious.

left at 10:51 and 2 miles later it was 11:02!! holy crap! i thought i was slow this whole time... i never ran a 5k, i usually just do 2 miles almost every day... but im pretty used to it now and i feel if i tried 3 miles it would not finish at that pace. if i can do a 5k in 20min ill be ecstatic!

lol. maybe could do regional 5k's... def not world class

and i dont even know what my 5k would be. never tried it. i have this 2mi loop i do and i never go longer ive always just tried pushing harder. by the end im strainin pretty bad tho. but its weird i actually feel worse when i try to take it easy... if i try that 'hopping walk' that so many seem to do it just kills me. i just go hard and im forrest gump.

its weird too cause i run so heavy... my legs and feet just take a beating. im not one of those fluid runners. but my joints can take it, i think cause i worked construction since i was 18 so ive always had a steady impact on my legs... shit, with 20lbs of tools on... LOVE the way its reshaped my legs though.. thighs and calves are hard as a rock. too bad so few girls get to feel them

Don't kid yourself, you're no damn good. Especially, if a 12 yr old can beat your ass.

You need to concentrate on shopliites and easy roommates. Your life would be easier.

He's fine. Thanks for your concern, though.

Do you find it is hard to run and maintain your balance with such a big head? Maybe if you got a snugger fitting hat, it would hold your head in a more stable position.

I ran for the first time in at least six months. I was heaving for air pretty heavily about 3/4 mile into it just as I reached a hill. I got up it...barely.

Trying to get back in running shape is worse pain than maintain it.

I just bought a pair of those Hokas as recommended by man of few opinions. They are really cushy. Almost too much so, but I think I will get used to them.

Good luck on your stamina GD. The weather has been perfect for running/

You know why you can never run in a campground??

You can only ran -- it's always past tents.

interesting to see what i said years ago.

went through a bad injury last fall.. not sure what happened, but i was messed up for over 4 months. i now understand what athletes go through a little more when they can still play but they cant do what they normally can. very depressing... and i dont even use my body to make money. running has been a BITCH... but kept pressing and resting more often. at one point i had to stop running completely for 2 weeks... i couldnt even shoot hoops.. shit was really bad. probably should have went to the doctor.

im finally back on pace. foot feels strong and pain free again. im back to running 4 times a week and doing 20min 5k average time, which is a great feeling. this past winter i put a bit of muscle on, which really doesnt help the running because im heavier now but i do look less alien like. cant really have it both ways, youre either a skinny distance runner or a ripped sprinter. because of this i dont always quite do 3 miles.. most days only two.. but its getting better every day now. injuries are a fucking bitch thats for sure.

Think I’ll try the Hokas next. My current running shoes are Brooks Glycerins 16s. They are easily the most plush, comfortable shoes I have ever worn.

I find that as long as I run once a week I have very little drop off. I have been riding my indoor bike 3 times a week and a 50 minute run in an indoor track. In the past, if I have a layoff my problem wasn’t finishing a run rather I was very sore afterwards.
