I thought I just would let you guys know. Picked this up marked down at Best Buy for 70 bucks. I think its the middle model. The Roku provides content similar to a cable TV box using the WI-FI in your house.
There are a number of channels to choose from. I have Amazon_Prime,which now has just added thousands of free movies that are streamed to you for free. (It's 89.99 a year for free shipping + thousands of movies) It also has some current TV shows. I watched Matthew Perrys new show in 1080P quality with no issues. I am also trying Hulu + to see how that works. There have been issues with that: streaming freezes causing reboots,etc.
So far,at this point,I would say that ROKU is NOT a good alternative to replacing cable. HULU + has all the NBC shows but no CBS,some ABC. I'm thinking a combination of ROKU (Owned by COMCAST,I found out) & basic cable might save me some money. Still researching that.

I think you have your facts screwed up. Comcast does own a piece of Hulu because of the NBC/Universal-Comcast merger, but I found zero information about them owning Roku.
