i may end up regretting this decision but i think i'm gonna check this out this weekend just based on the cast and the nostalgia factor that eddie murphy and matthew broderick are in it. axel and ferris...think of the possibilities.

anyway, i'm just hoping it's entertaining. so far from the previews, it seems dubious.

This movie would probably be funnier if it starred Jerry Stiller and Charlie Murphy.

Matthew Broderick hasn't been likable since the '80s, and that was in War Games. Ferris Bueller was a complete douche who equated freedom with a form of "transgressive" consumption, not unlike one of the resident idiots in our electronic village, IMU.

he was great in "biloxi blues" and "the freshman" if "ferris" didn't tickle your twine. and he was very underrated in "glory".

alrighty, well...it wasn't great. but it wasn't bad.

This movie is very "Oceans 11"ish, and it's fitting because it's co-written by Ted Griffin who also penned that script. I've followed Griffin's career since taking note of him after "Ravenous" and I've always liked his sharp style. "Best Laid Plans" is another one of his that I liked.

This one is likeable, but it's missing something...and the funny thing is, it's actually missing more Eddie Murphy. He should've had a lot more screen time than he did, and proves again why he's great as a lead IF he's given a good script. He's lost a little of that glimmer in his eye since his glory days but he still commands a scene and the screen loves him.

The plot is fine, the characters are fun, and the flow is good. It's an entertaining movie. I call movies like this "getaway movies". Get out, get away from the family or whatever, and just have a good time. This would've been a great holiday release. It even takes place during Thanksgiving. I guess they thought they'd get the jump on it.

Fun movie. Just could've used more Murphy (and of course, he got top billing during the credit sequence).

:D :D :D out of :D :D :D :D
