did anyone see it? why was conan sooooooooo fucking nervous? is he still embarrassed he got publicly bent over and reamed or is he just ashamed he only did this letterman show for money? was that the mark of the end; victory for letterman? or does conan still feel like his life is ruined by what happened?

i remember this guy when i was a kid. he used to be the funniest man on tv. oh god if you ever watched his show on acid you have to consciously stop laughing to breathe. he was so relaxed, did not filter his thoughts. now, every word he says its like a fingernail being meticulously ripped off your hand. he is still hiding something... maybe he wants to kill leno? or is he just happy with family life and is only staying a celebrity to make as much cash as he can before retirement at age 55?

I believe he had to sign non-disparagement clause, so he can't really let loose on NBC the way Letterman does. I'm not even sure he'd want to anyway since pretty much everyone involved in that mess has been fired anyway.

I simply cannot understand why anyone watches any of these shows.

I couldn't agree more. Letterman's act grew stale long about '87 and haven't watched any late night show since May 22, 1992.

Conan is funny, and Letterman was hilarious, but I just don't care for the format of any of these shows.

Just like people who still read newspapers, it's a format that was good a long time ago but is stale and has been replaced by better options.

but I never thought they were good. I remeber the excitement of staying up late when my grandparents babysat and being disappointed by the shows. I liked Letterman a little in the late 80s but haven't watched regularly in 20+ years. I saw Letterman on the PBS Carson tribute and couldn't believe how he had aged.

I still read newspapers

I think another well-known late night host who beats both Dave & Conan in the ratings was mentioned when Conan paid a rare visit to "The Late Show" the other night. That host? Jay Leno. Truth be told, NBC really screwed that whole thing up a few years ago.

no, nbc screwed up by letting leno take his show back. conan and leno both signed contracts over 5 years prior to this mess, because leno wanted to retire and conan wanted his spot. 5 years later, the change happens and leno suddenly doesnt want to retire.

it didnt help that conan wasnt even close to himself on the tonight show. he was so awkward and nervous... i hate to say it but he partially got himself fired. if he was like he always was on his old show there is no way nbc would have went back to leno. but america can smell scared from any distance, and conan was skiddish. sad though, because it takes way more then 6 months to fill a role like that, even if you have experience like he had.

but as far as letterman, he has been pretty great as of late. this whole conan/leno thing has given him a fresh breath on his career.... hes been extremely happy and funny again.

I don't think he's much better on TBS. Conan's show hasn't exactly taken off there either.

i havent even seen it yet. no cable and i forget to torrent it. thats so sad then, because if he is always like that now (thinking more then talking) then it must mean he is miserable; thats sort of what i thought when i saw him on letterman. how sad

Letterman was awesome but then again I was like 10 when he was in his prime so my comparison was to Pee Wee Herman and All That.

Letterman got lazy and no longer hits the streets for his comedy. He just sits behind the desk and makes fun of Republicans. He still makes me laugh. I love it when guys that work for him just walk out on stage and tell him to go "F" himself. Good stuff. Since Conan moved to TBS,I forget he is on but I try to catch him with "On Demand". I watched his show recently and laughed all the way through. As far as Jay,yes his Tonight Show sucks but he still is the more polished stand-up comic of the three.

I remember thinking Conan was funny in the late 90s when I was in high school. He has devoted fans who think he is some witty modern day Jonathan Swift type satirist because he wrote for The Simpsons in its heyday and he was the editor of the Harvard Lampoon. Same type of people who think The Daily Show is high brow biting humor. Conan was funny once but the shit gets old and stale after a point.

I missed the show, but were there snide comments about Leno? Leno schooled both those guys and in the end, they might have been "wronged" but Leno brings in the ratings and th at is all that matters.

Ever since Jay returned to the Tonight Show, Dave has been winning against him.
