Of the movies that are nominated for awards this year which ones have you seen, heard good things about or plan to see?

I see Argo comes out on DVD today so I was going to rent that one and watch it tonight. Other than that I saw
Lincoln, Flight, Skyfall, and Silver Linings Playbook. Lincoln, while slow, was a great performance by Daniel
Day Lewis and Tommy Lee Jones and the costumes and sets were cool. Flight was a very good performance
by Denzel. Skyfall was one of the best Bond movies I have ever seen. Silver Linings Playbook was a solid
all around movie, and I never have a problem having to watch Jennifer Lawrence for a few hours.

Of the films nominated for Best Picture, I've only seen Life of Pi and Silver Linings Playbook.

I wouldn't put either one in 'best picture' territory but they were good...Life of Pi especially, if only because it firmly planted an Indian voice saying "why are you so angry, Richard Parker?" in my gourd.

Wreck-It-Ralph (surprisingly not about RFDC's posting) was pretty good & should be the winner for best animated flick.

Django was excellent. Life of Pi was awesome...visually stunning and a great story.

Skyfall was 35 minutes too long imo...just end it already, jeez...

I believe Life of Pi and Dark Zero Thirty are out on DVD this week. I rented Beasts of The Southern Wild
over the weekend and you can pretty much keep that one. It was definitely different and the artsy
submission, just kind of left scratching my head when it was all done.

Django Unchained was awesome. If you love Tarantino, you will love this.

Argo was really good, but I don't think it's 'Best Picture' good.

Just watched Life Of Pi. That could have easily won Best Movie in my opinion. Really hit home for me on a number of levels in regards to what I have been going through the last few years. Zero Dark Thirty doesn't drop till next week so I was
mistaken there. Next week I guess.

Saw Lincoln and Zero Dark Thirty. Lincoln was my favorite movie of the year. I agree with the comment earlier about Daniel Day Lewis and Tommy Lee Jones. I liked Zero Dark Thirty but liked Lincoln a little more. I have a friend that went to the Best Picture Marathon at AMC River East. Nine movies over 24 hours. That's too many movies in one day.

Another movie I would recommend even though it didn't come out this year is Last King of Scotland. Forrest Whitaker's portrayal of Ugandan dictator Idi Amin is scary.

Watched Silver Linings Playbook and Zero Dark Thirty over the weekend. Both were really good. Argo is next up.
