New series started last night. I watched it on DVR this morning, and it was pretty good. It's a modern reboot of the Norman Bates story starting with his mother buying the motel. Looks like it could be pretty good.

Vera Farminga from Up in the Air is Mother, and some British kid is Norman.

didn't think it was good at all. aside from the "this ain't yo daddy's 'psycho'" updated Bates, the standard issue garden variety plot twists and stock characters were all in full force, making it rather dull and uninvolving. and the backstory of the town (with what seems like a "dirty little secret") looks like it'll be more intriguing of a set up with a really dumb pay off...

these are good lead actors given a really banal script to work with, and it just reeks of "TV melodrama".

and how in the hell do the cops not smell the blood or death of a guy in a bathtub while they're right in the hotel room?
