Carrie Fisher Confirms She’ll Be Back For ‘Star Wars: Episode VII’

Posted on 3.6.13 by Laura Frances

Slowly but surely, the original cast of Star Wars is announcing their return to the sequel. Actress Carrie Fisher has now confirmed that she’ll be back as Princess Leia in Star Wars VII.

In an interview with Palm Beach Illustrated, Fisher was asked about the franchise: “Can you confirm whether you’ll reprise the role of Princess Leia?” Fisher responded with a very simple “Yes.” When asked how she envisioned her character, she said: “Elderly. She’s in an intergalactic old folks’ home… I just think she would be just like she was before, only slower and less inclined to be up for the big battle.”

Fisher is not the first actor to confirm their participation in the new movie. A few weeks ago, Mark Hamill revealed that he’s at a stage where “they want us to go in and meet with Michael Ardnt, who is the writer, and Kathleen Kennedy, who is going to run Lucasfilm.”

Though Harrison Ford hasn’t confirmed his part in the movie himself, it’s almost a given that he’s part of the “us” Hamill refers to in his announcement (seen above). Our very own El Mayimbe got the scoop from credible sources that Ford would be reprising his role as Han Solo… we’re just waiting for the actor to say it out loud. If Fisher and Hamill are onboard, then Ford must also be in the mix.

harrison ford "revisited" indiana jones, and that didn't work out so great. i'm not all thrilled about the "reunion" but they could be used as nice cameos a la nimoy in the "star trek" reboot.

And of course Karen Allen was part of that reunion too. Wasn't that fantastic.

I didn't like the Nimoy cameo at all. I thought it was forced, pandering, and gimmicky.

Anyway, I'm sure I come across as being determined to not like the new Star Wars films. Which is precisely how I feel, so, I'm glad I'm coming across correctly.

the critic inside me agrees with you on the nimoy thing but the nostalgic child forgives it. i mean, the villain was pretty bad too. but i liked it overall.

oh yes...karen allen. can't forget her!

Not a huge Patton Oswalt fan. I've never really seen anything he's done. But, I did like him in Justified.

This is pretty funny and impressively nerdy -
