Because everyone believes that Darryl is actually behind the shooting and that he twisted Kendall's arm into taking the blame.

Then this move should have been a no brainer from the beginning.

I kinda half watched the episode early this morning. I am going to have to rewatch it tonight and actually
pay more attention. There was a lot of stuff that happened in the middle there that I probably need to
focus on. Overall it was an alright finale and sets up what should be a potentially great final season between
Raylan and Boyd.

That's all this whole season was - a bridge to get us to Boyd vs. Raylan for the final season. I like that they are getting Boyd back to bank-robbin' like Season 1. I don't see any way they have Raylan kill Boyd or even have him go to jail.

Boyd is the best character in the entire show. I'll be surprised if they craft a story where the audience feels good about his dying/going to jail.
