Watched an E:60 last night on artificial turf fields and how the crumb rubber may be causing cancer in athletes. Was actually pretty disconcerting. I had not heard about this before, but considering how many turf fields are being installed in Chicagoland, this could become a big problem.

I know they had an issue with something in the ground up old tires. The issue isnt new, you would think anything in the past 5 years would not have this issue.

They are still using old ground up tires. Nothing has changed.

Program had interviews with former EPA toxicologists that basically said that the EPA is covering up the possible cancer link because they were able to find something to do with the piles of tires laying around.

from my limited understanding, tire rubber is carcinogenic. so they grind it up into particles and have kids play on it?

BUT THERE'S NO PROOF IT CAUSES CANCER.

how could they prove it other than force feed kids tire rubber for 10 years and see if they get cancer?

Almost makes you miss the old concrete Astroturf at places like Hanson and Gately. Those hits stayed with you for days after.

Play on it a while and then eat bacon for next 32 meals. Smoke 15 packs of Camel non-filters and report to your doctor ASAP.
