Overall not that bad. Way better than I thought. They spread the story around to all the main people. I can understand why now they are going to handle Checkov the way they are planning on doing. Besides the reveal of Sulu the other real world problem they dealt with was written directly into the story and was done very very well. Besides good action they did some decent story telling, better than previous efforts. Karl Urban once again steals almost every scene he is in.

On a semi related note, I read today that one of my dreams is coming true. They are relaunching Buckaroo Banzai, this time as a TV series helmed by Kevin Smith. I really am hoping this does good.

I saw it and thought it was very entertaining. I have always liked Star Trek better than Star Wars.

Into Darkness was not good. Nothing will ever top Wrath of Khan. I'll still go see this one eventually.

i wasn't high on this one going in, and i was very satisfied with it. i thought it was more fun and entertaining than "into darkness" which weighed itself down with too much going on and then just chucking in khan like it was an after thought.

here, the story breathes a lot better and has more patience. it also has some great big laughs, something i'm very glad they've kept intact from the original cast. these guys like each other, and we like them for it.

it is very bittersweet seeing yelchin as chekov for the last time.

idris elba made a great villain, even though the logic behind the whole antagonist doesn't make too much sense. he is always effective and believable.

overall, a great ride. much better pace than with "into darkness" although again, toward the end, the momentum slips up a bit. the first of the new series didn't suffer from that.

:D :D :D out of :D :D :D :D

Ok so last night I finally watched the first JJ Star Trek. How the fuck is Nero doing time traveling and how can two spocks talk to each other?

Yeah, that was pretty good. Was able to keep the excitement/tension going almost the whole movie.

I saw this last night and was mostly impressed. Definitely better than what I thought just from seeing the trailer.

Thought it was pretty good as well. The alien chick who was helping Scottie reminded me of the porn star Belladonna.

I can't wait for the double anal scenes in the director's cut.

If you thought the stuff Scottie's little bluish-green buddy squirted out was impressive, just wait.

I liked it as well. Probably my favorite of the 3.

Totally agree with WZ on Yelchin's final performance. Idk how they replace him as Chekov. The whole cast is written very well, and each actor embraces their role as part of a collective.

A bit slow out of the gate but otherwise better than I expected. And without spoiling I enjoyed the subtle references to past show episodes and movies.
