Available on Netflix now. Recommended by Tad Queasy.

A slow burn chiller that seems utterly predictable: the plot unfolds exactly how you'd probably think. However, it's the way that everything unravels that makes it intriguing and very disturbing.

Simply put: a couple is invited to a dinner party to have a reunion with old friends. takes place in southern california. that is very important to setting the mood. the boyfriend is the ex-husband of the hostess. that's also important. but it's not a spoiler.

there's a secret that's revealed, that all the friends know about, but it really packs a punch once it's opened up. the hostess and her new husband have "moved on" from their past lives, and they seem to belong to some kind of cultish group.

all of the ingredients of a "Strangers" or "You're Next" device seem to be in the mix. but there's a different kind of disturbing this film brings. it's not really anything like those, but it does share the same tension sometimes.

there are two very vital words/phrases to hone in on when watching: "move on" and "honest". carry those with you throughout and you're in for a very satisfying--but still disturbing--experience.

the acting is very good, especially from the lead actor (i recognized him eventually from "Prometheus" but he looks really different). There is a lot to digest in this...but it's not always easy to go down.

:D :D :D :D out of :D :D :D :D

Never heard of it or seen it, but based on this review, I’m fairly certain what the twist is. I think you were a little heavy handed in your writing.

it's not really a twist. sorry if it came across that way.

The ending is the most fucked up part, kind of has an Invasion of the Body Snatchers vibe.

Ah, Christ.....not another movie blaming the Jews. I mean, sure, it's true to life, but as a narrative device? Passé, baby, passé.

My review so far is that you can skip the first 30 minutes of this movie. But it is starting to get a little interesting.

Now my full review... it is a movie, that is for sure. Things happen which seem like they probably will happen, and then they try to trick you that they won't, but they do anyway. And then there's the end of the movie which I think is making some broad statement about life but I may just not be smart enough to connect all these sci-fi dots. I recommend watching The Room first, and then if you have some time, watch this one after you watch eXistenZ. Sorry guys, I just wasn't feeling this... maybe if Stacy Keach had come in as the Sherrif and stopped some of the shenanigans, it may have been better.

Well first don’t say the first 30 minutes don’t matter, it sets up the entire theme.

Tad can probably back me up here, but there is plenty to digest and while it’s pretty heavy stuff, it’s damn worth it.

Can’t agree at all with Newp’s take. I mean “Meteor” will always have its value but this is well beyond that.
