He announced last night about a format change to a 30 minute show with fewer interviews and no band.
So that's what Jimmy Vivino get's after 25 years of service? I'm betting TBS went to him and told him to cut his budget or salary. So,bye-bye to Jimmy. Jay Leno was a double crosser though? There was actual talk of cutting his show to once a week. He should have just killed the whole damn thing and go out with his band.

I missed this thread when I was in NYC. I knew that Conan was on a tour around the country doing stand up type shows. Anyway his new show with the
new format is on the air now. I don't miss the band and they have to come up with fewer dumb skits. So far he has had some good guests and it is usually
just Conan, guest and Andy sitting in chairs chatting. No desk or stage or anything like that. I know there aren't too many other Conan fans here but was
just curious what they thought. It is just ok with me. I'll give it a shot for a few more weeks but at this point I have other options on TV that are more
interesting.

I've listened to a few episodes of his new podcast "Conan Needs a Friend".

It was OK. I don't think his style translates as well to an audio-only format. He generally just sounds angry.

The podcast feels like a forced bit most of the time...this week's episode with Dana Carvey was really good though and that's because you get a bit of the fanboy side to Conan. Really, the show should be Conan talking to old SNL people about the behind the scenes SNL stuff. That has been the most interesting parts of the podcast.

It's been at least five years since I have watched Conan.

I’m not a podcast guy at all but my wife and I listened to what may have been his first one with Nick Offerman and his wife. It was just ok and I agree with your take on this format for him. Part of his charm, at least for me is his physical comedy.
