I don’t remember the name of it because I didn’t care to see it again. But I believe it had Sissy Spacek in it.

Not because it wasn’t good. Just felt too real about the bankruptcy and cost of farming. I think Mel Gibson was in it too.

Field of Dreams has some of that too.

Sam Shepard and Jessica Lange were in one too.

Well if you include ranching and tv series, then Yellowstone fits the bill.

Otherwise, I’ll take the Wizard of Oz. :D

It was called country. Sam Shepherd played Spacek’s husband. Wilford Brimley was her father. The tornado scene, if I’m remembering the right movie, was a bit much but it was painful.

Excuse me. I’m mixing two up. That was the River you were talking about. Jessica Lange was the woman in Country. Guess there were three Farm movies in 1984.

I love this place. Where else would you find a post on farm movies in which the OP recalls the stars of a movie but can’t remember the title and doesn’t give the slightest thought to googling it.

Btw, the answer is “The Curse”. Sure it’s horrible but it starred Claude Akins, which makes it worthy.

Bonus points if it also had Jan-Michael Vincent. A veritable 70's boner-fest !!

It never occurred to me that there would be two movies about that time period that would be difficult to watch. I was so sure it was the one with Brimley that I googled that. Took a second to register Lange vs Spacek. And then to find out they were both made in the same year and there was a third (about dust bowl era) made was surprising.

I’d go Grapes Of Wrath or Of mice and Men but more ag as setting than ag as topic.

At Any Price with Dennis Quaid, Zac Efron, Kim Dickens, and Heather Graham. Filmed right here in DeKalb County. The production crew rented space in my friend's building. He and his wife were actually put in a scene sitting behind Clancy Brown at a funeral. .

It's a pretty big stretch to relate Yellowstone to a farming movie

Does Kim Dickens dump them out in this film?
