This probably should've been a lot more fun than it wound up being. David Harbour is smashing, literally, but a lot of the dressing around the meat of this film is flimsy and tentative. Not as sure of itself as "Nobody" was, and took the easy way out with its social implications.
Still, it was a fun intro into the holiday season. The kid is cute. The violence and gore is fun. It is too long at almost 2 hours, and the mid-credit scene is worthless.
I wish one of these movies had the balls to go all the way. Dare I say it, but I have the same reservations about "Cocaine Bear".

Also, backstory needed to either be tossed or used more. It probably could have served as part of a Director's Cut. We don't need to know that Santa used to be...like, Thor. I'd have bought he could kick ass just because Christmas magic.
