Superb performance by Hugh Grant playing completely against type but turns on the charm in the first act of this film. i think the less said about the film the better for those who want to check it out. the plot is pretty basic: two mormon missionaries, teenage girls post-high school, go to his house on a really bad weather day in colorado, and they're invited in to minister to him and he humors them. until it starts to unravel into something sinister. that part has already been exposed in the trailers. but what happens once things get going, is pretty intense.

you can see what's coming sometimes, it's not the most subtle movie. also, you have to suspend some disbelief and play long. it becomes clear that this movie wants to be a mind bender. it even contains a lot of camera work that throws you off, disorients, etc. it can be a little nauseating, but that's on purpose.

it's definitely a "get a cup of coffee and discuss afterward" type of movie. explores theology and what it means to believe vs. what is proven, etc. sounds predictable but you can tell these guys did their research.

there are just a few jump scares, but most of the suspense is pretty legitimate. good flick.
