Looks good. Paul Giamatti stars. Maybe I'll see it tomorrow.

A curmudgeonly instructor at a New England prep school remains on campus during Christmas break to babysit a handful of students with nowhere to go. He soon forms an unlikely bond with a brainy but damaged troublemaker, and with the school's head cook, a woman who just lost a son in the Vietnam War.

This is streaming for free on Peacock. Thought it was quite enjoyable. Giamatti does a nice job with the role in a period piece from 1970.

Finally watched this tonight. Exceptional "novel" style film that really delves into character development for the 3 main charactesr. all of them are strong, and are given backstories that lead to very touching moments.

i think it does go on a little long, as far as pacing, but because of the nature of the film, it works. i know they added the early 70's style credits/misc window dressing stuff for effect but it actually didn't really need that.

soundtrack was excellent as well.

alexander payne has made some fine films like "election" and reconnecting with giamatti ("sideways") was definitely a plus. da'vine joy randolph and dominic sessa both turn in brilliant and finely tuned performances as well.

definitely a good holiday watch--just expect a slow moving pace.

:D :D :D out of :D :D :D :D
