seems like an interesting concept; i'm assuming it's "semi-scripted" but has a lot of improv dialog?

No, it's very different than Nathan For You. Start with Season 2. Season 1 is awesome but Season 2 is actually about something. He highlights a problem and boldly tackles it. You can run through 6 episodes in a few days.
