It seems a bit early to bring this up, but there's news concerning the 2010 Academy Awards and who will host the annual event. After film committments will prevent Hugh Jackman from returning as host of the Oscar telecast on ABC for a second straight year, producers have settled on two actors, one familiar and one first-timer.

One of the hosts of next year's telecast hosted the Oscars himself on 2 occasions in 2000 and 2002. The other is a first-timer, although he was nominated in 2003 for "The Cooler" but is best known for his work on "30 Rock" opposite Tina Fey on NBC Thursday nights. Together, they'll co-star with Meryl Streep in the upcoming film "It's Complicated" Christmas Day in theaters. They are Steve Martin & Alec Baldwin. Oscar producers Bill Mechanic & Adam Shankman said in a statement they are "the perfect pair" to share hosting duties for the first time since Chevy Chase, Goldie Hawn & Paul "Crocodile Dundee" Hogan split the duties in 1987. The Oscars will be handed out live March 7th in Los Angeles. It seems a bit early mentioning this, but it won't be long before Oscar-nominated films will be released to theaters and Award Season will be in full effect.

Do you think G.I. Joe:The Rise of Cobra will be nominated?

When you said perfect pair I thought it would be Scarlett Johansson, Salma Hayek, or Halle Berry

Sorry to disappoint you folks regarding the title of this thread. "The Perfect Pair" were the words of the Oscar producers who picked Steve Martin & Alec Baldwin to host next year's telecast by way of a statement. Last year's host Hugh Jackman raised some eyebrows considering he's not a comic actor by trade, but those that watched the show felt Hugh was good enough to host the Oscars again. It won't be next year due to prior film committments, but Hugh did leave the door open to host the show again somewhere down the line.

I thought when I saw "The Perfect Pair" you were referring to North and JenJen. Or at the very least Mac and Harry

W_Z, hosting the Oscars isn't as easy as it seems. For starters, the show is some 4 hours long! You've also got to keep your audience somewhat interested and entertained. Besides, if you don't bring your "A material", you end up getting roasted by critics. Ask Whoopi Goldberg & David Letterman...
