I loved the show and toys growing up, but this film looks horrible. Besides Snakeyes, I can't see one good thing from any of the previews. Why must they take anything that was good and decent from my childhood and turn it into an abomination?

On "Aint it Cool.com",some positive reviews from people who thought the same as you. They are going for the cartoon world come to life. The big mistake is making G.I. Joe some kind of international unit.

I'm willing to be that Marlon Wayans is going to piss a lot of people off.

The trailers have looked bad to me.

Plus, I know the critics aren't gods or anything, but whenever a studio refuses to screen a movie, it makes me think it sucks.

I plan on going to see it b/c I'm a hopeless fanboy, but I fully expect it to suck. Why they let the guy who did "The Mummy" movies direct this movie is beyond me. Yes the source material is a bit outlandish, but there are some cool little seeds in there that could have been used to produce a cool movie. Now I'll be subjected to sitting through another abortion of my childhood memories, "Transformers" & "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen" I'm looking at you.

The whole "super suits" thing is absurd. GI Joe had awesome vehicles, not power ranger outfits. I really want to like this movie but I admit I am going in expecting the worst.

It is getting favorable reviews! It just needs to be taken for what it is, a live-action cartoon.

i know at least the sunday review show guys ("at the movies") did an advanced review on it, so i guess so. "watchmen" wasn't really a very good movie though.

and I'm sorry, if you go into G.I. Joe and you're over the age of 11, and you come out disappointed...you really have no one to blame but yourself. This looks on par with "Wild Wild West" and "Godzilla" 1998.

I want to see "Watchmen" now that it's on DVD and on pay-per-view...As for "G.I. Joe", which comes out in theaters this weekend, Paramount Pictures announced they're not allowing critics to pre-screen this action film. Usually, in the words of longtime WGN film critic Roy Leonard, that's not a good sign. :(

shark, i'd recommend you watch the longest possible edition of "watchmen" they put out...i believe there is a "director's cut" of watchmen but i hear there's *another* edition coming out that has even more supplementary stuff that will help greatly in understanding the film. the theatrical cut didn't really explain enough to keep it coherent.

I know Malin Akerman's in "Watchmen" and I have a poster downstairs in my office looking hot & sexy...I'll definitely keep my eyes peeled for the extras I think you're referring that ended up on the cutting room floor.

They should have followed the story line of the original comic books. Then again I'm thinking back to when I was 9 and thought that was a literary classic at the time.

I also have to reccommend the director's cut-its about 30 minutes longer, but if you are going to invest in a 160 minute move, whats another 30. As someone who didn't read the graphic novel, I missed a lot of things in the theatrical version, but I gave the Director's cut a shot on PPV and it was well worth it.

I saw G.I. Joe today. If you accept it for what it is,I give it 5 out 5 stars!!
Incredible stunts & special FX! Why is Star Wars & Star Trek accepted by so many "respectable" movie reviewers but they giggle and rip this movie? It was the most entertaining 2 hours spent by me this year at the movies. Never a dull moment as they make the popular G.I. Joe cartoon come to life. Of course if you are an "adult" who finds this stuff as mindless minutia,go see the Julia/Julie movie with Meryl Streep. A movie about Julia Childs? What straight man would see that?
Hollywood makes some incredibly dumb movies,G.I. Joe is NOT one of them. The best way to describe it is Roger Moore James Bond series collides with Star Wars times 10!

we got the 2 disc director's cut (not blu-ray) a couple weeks ago -inside the case was a $10 off coupon for
the 5 disc collection that will be out this holiday season. Hard to find time to watch a 3 hour movie
at home at nite when 3 year old babykid is all over the place, but I'm glad that I was convinced
to buy the book, read the book, see the movie, and then buy the dvd.

I just watched the Delux DVD last night and best part was the making of ,Bart was originally to be Richard Pryor and Mel tried to get the Duke in the movie , witch would have been a hoot.

I saw GI Joe with my youngest son yesterday afternoon. I thought it was pretty awesome up until they went to the North Pole, then it got pretty Battlestar Galactica hokey. For having such bad buzz leading up to it's release, I thought the movie exceeded expectations.

I loved the movie and have a hard on for not only Baroness and Scarlett but the blond assistant soldier who got killed while having general hawk sign an order form.
