Documentary made a few years ago that's made up entirely of archived audio interviews between Cobain and Michael Azerrad when he was writing "Come As You Are" back in 1993, chronicling Nirvana. It's accompaniment is footage of the towns that Cobain lived/grew up in (Olympia, Aberdeen, and Seattle, Washington) and the background music includes a lot of old sub pop bands and indie rock bands. Songs include "Touch me I'm Sick" by Mudhoney, the original recordings of "The Man Who Sold the World" by Bowie, "Son of a Gun" by the Vaselines, plus songs by The Melvins, Bad Brains, Butthole Surfers, and Half Japanese.

If you're into seeing a more intimate portrait of Cobain this is interesting. Kind of takes you back to that time period. I could definitely relate to some of the things he talked about when he was growing up ("I was a geek, but I was the only geek like me. There were other geeks...but they were different than I was." paraphrased), just being an outsider and even when he became a more prominent musician, being an outcast among outcasts. He complained of the indie scene especially sub pop records, how you couldn't fuse pop with it because pop was supposed to be just that, and he liked pop.

While the legend of Nirvana seems to continue to erode into the abyss of music that is deemed less important as the years go by, this documentary still shows a time of relevance for Cobain and gives insight into some things that I hadn't known before.

I guess if you've already read all there is about Cobain, this is nothing new. But it's well put together, and it's only about an hour and a half long.

I saw it last night on IFC. Was on a binge of that channel last night. I also became a fan of "The IT Crowd" last night as well.

Three smiley's...you know the drill.

I was reading about this recently and really wanna check it out. I started getting an appreciation for rock in the early 90s and Nirvana was at the top at the time so they kinda became my favs for a while. I didn't kno it was playin on tv tho

This is kind of an aside but did anybody here see the Gus Van Zandt movie about Cobain? If so...any good?

I wouldn't bother wasting the 90 minutes.
it's not technically even about Nirvana...just a bad story. very dark lighting, dull, probably 15 minutes of dialog. quite horrible...
