CHICAGO (WLS) - 'The Dude' may finally receive the recognition he truly deserves.

"Big Lebowski" star Jeff Bridges, is among a list of nine "A"-list celebs and athletes to be considered for induction into the International Bowling Hall of Fame.

And for the first time in bowling history, the Bowling Proprietors' Association of America (BPAA) is opening up the celebrity induction process to a public vote.

"We've assembled a lineup of celebrity nominees who have helped to make bowling the nation's number one participatory sport, from promoting our great sport in entertainment pop culture to simply showing their love for the sport," said Steve Johnson, Executive Director of the BPAA.

Everyone who casts a vote receives a downloadable coupon for a free game of bowling.

Other nominees include teen heart throb Justin Bieber, actors Bill Murray (King Pin) and Pauley Perrette (NCIS), NBA stars Chris Paul and Dwight Howard, country music singer Taylor Swift, late night talk show host Jimmy Fallon, and reality star Kim Kardashian.

The final day to vote is August 7. To cast your vote, visit www.gobowling.com.

I think Jerome Bettis should be on that list. He was a well known athlete who also was a pretty good bowler.

I completely agree. Did that movie get any recognition for its cinematography? The bowling alley scenes alone are beautifully shot.

The whole movie was shot beautifully. I really thought that John Goodman should have been up for a supporting actor award for his role as Walter.

maybe a nomination. but the award should've gone to either ian mckellen for "gods and monsters" or edward norton for "american history x".

Watching JB in the country movie he was in. Show starts in a bowling alley. He gets lucky. Good show.

I just voted, and I think the thing is rigged. It appears that every retard in the world (but probably no a retard) is either voting for the little dipshit pop star with the helmet hair or the one with the small face.

The Dude is reprising his role in TRON. That movie will either totally rock or totally suck - there won't be any inbetweens.
