I know it's a totally different genre than the above, but I hope it's more entertaining than Jackie Brown....

I plan on checking it out on Sunday.

I never knew who Christoph Waltz was prior to seeing Inglorious Basterds, but this guy OWNS every scene he's in.

Brad Pitt is more like comic relief in this flick compared to Waltz's acting chops.

Without giving too much away, this is another great directorial / writing job by Tarantino - every time you thing you've got this guy figured out, he shifts gears and surprises you with his next movie.

wasn't able to catch it this weekend but will still try to see it before it leaves theatres...

While leaving, I was wondering.. is Brad Pitt a 'good actor' - or is he just a popular / likable actor. He's not really in any of the heavy duty serious scenes whatsoever.

And what's the deal with the director from Hostel - he seems to be in a lot of Tarantino flicks. Interesting.

if you need to answer the question about pitt, just go back and watch "12 monkeys", "a river runs through it", "fight club", and "interview with the vampire".

i believe he's a good actor, but he doesn't always get great acting parts.

WZ, check out the camera work in the opening scene and the basement scene. Fantastic stuff.

Absolutely amazing movie, it wasn't what I was expecting at all based off the commercials. Good call on Waltz Grid, he was terrific.

I haven't liked a singled Quentin Tarantino movie since Jackie Brown, so I went into this with very low expectations. I absolutely loved it, don't let the previews fool you. The movie goes a different direction and it's great.

Enjoyed the movie. Christoph Waltz was excellent. Brad Pitt was very good. Probably my third favorite Tarantino film after Pulp Fiction & Kill Bill. May be tied with Resevoir Dogs.

An absolute delight. Never felt the running time. The performances by Waltz and Melanie Laurent are outstanding. Brad Pitt is funny, and Samm Levine doesn't have any lines...which was a shame. BJ Novak was pretty interchangeable.

This is Tarantino's best since "Pulp Fiction". His dialog scenes are some of the best to come out of Hollywood. I could tell some of the kids sitting down the aisle from me were getting impatient with some of the lingering scenes such as the one in the bar, but I thought they were well done and the tension was always there. You knew something was going to happen, just not when.

Excellent film.

Saw this with the wife on Friday.
It was good. Artistically, it was better than any other of the films. Beautiful cinematography, just glorious sets and use of color. I normally wouldn't notice something like that in a movie but I noticed it with this one.
Scenes dragged on. I can't imagine how many pages in the farmhouse and the bar scene but a LOT.
Waltz was just spectacular. It's going to be an Oscar nominated performance. His flips between English, German, and French are amazing. Each scene is OWNED except for his second to last scene. I'll explain my feelings about that once most of you have and a chance to see it.
Pitt's performance was Rhett Butler meets John McClaine. Fun.
Don't go expecting this to be as good a story as Pulp Fiction. To enjoy this movie you absolutely must suspend all disbelief as well. This is not a historical retelling. It's all for fun.
It's more of a romp, a chance to play Wolfenstein with actors.
This was a good flick for sheer mindless entertainment. But don't go expecting to leave talking about all the little facets to the movie (like the clocks or the apartments radio thing in Pulp Fiction, or how you spend hours discussing the film's timeline), you won't have any of that.
But it's beautiful to look at, and a little crazy hearing 80's rock in a WWII flick.

It's sad now. The time of year when the summer movie blockbuster is done. I don't hold QT on a pedastel. I think he is one weird fucking dude. He seems to be on cocaine during most interviews. His last movie with Kurt Russell (deathproof?) had a lot of girl talk in it that went nowhere. The girls dialogue was from Quentin's twisted mind,no doubt. I'm not in the mood for more of that shit...I'll skip this one.

Just watched this and it was phenomenal. If you like Tarantino movies at all be
sure to check this one out. Probably my second favorite behind Pulp Fiction. For
me it edges out Resevoir Dogs by a nose. Just a fun film to sit back and enjoy
the action, tension and dialogue. I had other things to do this morning but didn't
have the patience to pause it, I had to see what was going to happen next.

I thought this was good, but not great and could've been ALOT better. Was really disappointed in the lack of screen time the actual bastards get. They're barely in the friggen movie! I wanted a different movie, the movie I wanted was about how they went from recruits to the fined tuned nazi killing machines. Instead we got none of that.

Of the QT movies, I would definitely rank this WAY WAY behind Pulp, Reservoir, Jackie Brown and both Kill Bills.

I saw the movie a couple weeks ago and I have no recollection of any of that stuff. That's always a sign that a movie is forgettable, when 2 weeks later I don't remember parts of it. When a movie is really good I find myself thinking about it off and on for a week or two afterwards.

Another thing that bummed me out about this movie was the plan they came up with to kill Hitler, it was pretty stupid and not really thought out. They built up Brad Pitts character so much in the movie and then he halfasses it like that and gets caught? Weak.

it is actually an extremely well conceived movie, shakes. the movie is about the convolution of revenge and how complicated plots usually end up having the simplest resolutions. it was never intended to be what people thought it was supposed to be.

it's my favorite film of '09. and it's his best since "pulp fiction".

OVERRATED. It was artsy, entertaining, and self indulgence on QT & Pitts part. Dogs, Pulp, and Death Proof all better flicks. Even Desperado was more entertaining for me.

I didn't really find it that funny. Sure there were parts but parts don't equate to "excellent". And outside of Pitts "Italian" which was a total gut buster I found the rest only mildly funny.

Like mentioned before Christoph Waltz is one hell of an actor. I hope he does more American films.

the layers of revenge plots that are so convoluted and contrived that wind up becoming useless and unnecessary--while in the end, revenge itself is just that, was laid out perfectly. there was so much contrast in certain scenes...it's a film that can be studied in film theory classes.

i could only imagine fellini and bergman films getting the "overrated" treatment back in the day...

from all the films i've seen, this should win "best picture". at least, screenwriting and supporting (or lead?) actor, for waltz.

seeing it a second time just brought out what i liked more about it. and made me realize what i thought were shortcomings were actually done on purpose.

Zack, I agree with what you said, but you don't have to be a film student to enjoy the film's merits.
It was magnificent entertainment, as well.

Marcellus is a powerful bastage, and this is because he sold his soul to the devil - hence the lock's code on the briefcase being set at 666 when Vincent goes to unlock it in the apartment. The damned soul of Marcellus is glowing red when Vincent is looking at it and says; "...oh, we happy" to Jules. That Quentin tries to be a deep mofo there

just saw this last night. thought it was fantastic. it is right up there with my favorite QT movies, i liked jackie brown and the kill bills as well. i think pitt is a pretty good actor, and i agree that pitts italian at the theater was funny as hell. the opening scene was tremendous. was fully entertained the whole way, was bumming when it was over.

it's about time people recognize how great this film is.

truly a joy to watch from start to finish.
