You've seen the countless promos. You've seen the sneak previews on FOX Sports' pregame last July before the MLB All-Star Game in Phoenix and 2 weeks ago before "The OT" NFL postgame show. It's one of the most eagerly anticipated and hyped shows of the fall TV season, and it premieres tonight & tomorrow at 7p on FOX32HD.

It's called "The X Factor", which marks the return of brutally honest British judge Simon Cowell to American television and is also one of the most popular shows in several foreign countries. The show not only reunites Simon & Paula Abdul, both of whom were judges on "American Idol", but also features record executive Antonio "L.A." Reid and former Pussycat Doll Nicole Scherzinger as judges and veteran British TV personality Steve Jones as host. Will Simon's U.S. version be as big a hit as "Idol", if not bigger than the singing competition he left 2 years ago to bring "X" to this country? The hype begins tonight.

TP is right again, no thanks.

I see what you did there...Even though I started the thread, I'm not sure I'm in it either.

TP, I'll be curious to find out how it does in the ratings this eve. ABC has the season premieres of "The Middle" and "Modern Family" in hour-long form tonight opposite "X".

These staged reality shows are of no interest to me. I like real reality, like sports....still wondering if those Rays catch the BoSox. That is real drama.

It's all over the FOX family of networks, Frank, that's for sure...FOXSports.com has also looked a little different in preparation for tonight's premiere, especially the logo.

X Factor is just a rip off of American Idol, just like X Factor was a rip off of X-Men...

Anyways:

Both had Simon Cowell, Paula Abdul and a gay host (AI Seacrest, XF British Guy).
AI had Randy Jackson (fat black dude with hipster glasses), XF has L.A. Reid (fat black dude with hipster glasses).

Same shit.

I think it was the other way around. American Idol was a rip off of Britain's X Factor. Regardless, its the same show. Nicole Sherzinger is hot, though.

Semantically speaking, I don't think you can call it a rip off. If I'm not mistaken, Simon Cowell was heavily involved in the start of all 4 shows being discussed here. I'm about 95% sure you can't plagerize yourself (unless you're John Fogerty).

I think Ugie could find a way.

That's why I said 95%

For the record, "The X Factor" is already a huge global hit elsewhere around the world. Simon Cowell is putting some $5 million on the line for the winner.

I didn't see it...I know it'll be on again tonight. Also on this eve..."Charlie's Angels", the series premiere of the Minka Kelly version at 7p on ABC.

Shark, this is what you get for writing entertainment-related news blurbs on a board, instead of chatting. That, and the topic is kinda lame.

Will you not be watching Charlie's Angels because you hate John "The Otter" Forsythe?

The ratings are in and they're not good. "The X Factor" drew only 12.5 million viewers Wednesday night compared to 26.1 million viewers for the "American Idol" season premiere back in January for Season #10. This despite all the promos on the FOX family of networks and Pepsi as the presenting sponsor for the 2-night premiere of "X". Talk about a letdown!
