According to Lost drilling it in our ears, "what happened happened."

That Jacob guy said something to the effect that there is only one ending and everything before that is just progress.

I thought the last 2 episodes have been very good and the stuff prior to that was boring as hell. That said, I'm pretty irritated that it seems like this whole thing has just been a big setup for "love" being the key or whatever garbage they are trying to sell. But, I'll admit, I probably just don't know what the hell is going on.

I thought last night was the most confusing episode yet. No idea what the fuck is going on and at this point I don't really care.

Why the fuck did Desmond run over Locke? Can someone please explain that to me?

Tho theories:

1) Kill him, could help sync things with the island. If their lives from alternate universe and islands sync up, Locke can't be walking around.

2) Get alternate universe Locke to sync his memories like Desmond, Faraday, Hurley, and Charlie have. I don't know how that helps as much as Locke is dead on the island but... maybe? Also, everyone else has synched through 'love', why would Locke be 'extreme pain'. Maybe he will be able to walk now in the alternate universe, and things will click?

Neither of those make sense. How would Desmond know that??? Last week he figured out there was some sort of weird connection and he figured out it had something to do with the flight so he requested the flight manifest. How does he go from that to the theories you came up with? He doesn't know anything about Locke other than he was on the flight.

It doesn't have to be love. I think it is just extreme emotion.

Desmond realized about the island from near-death experience of nearly drowning and seeing Charlie put his hand on the glass.

Sun can't speak English after she hit her head in the other universe, maybe she hit her head harder than it would appear. I think Desmond's goal is just to get people to the emotional state that they need to understand.

and how is the Professor even in the parallel universe? Wouldn't he have died on the island in the 70s when the bomb went off? Isn't that what caused the paralle universe in the first place?

One theory is that Desmond was trying to injure Locke badly so he will be taken to the hospital....so that Jack will operate. Perhaps that will trigger something. It's no coincidence that are characters are ending up at the hospital...Des, Charlie, Sun and Jin (on their way since Sun was shot), Sayid..now perhaps Locke. Something is gonna happen.

Des telling Ben that he has a son Charlie was a big reveal that Sideways Des is linked to Island Des completely....since originally Sideways Des didn't have a family. Why he really hit Locke will hopefully be revealed soon. Some think that the MIB is still partially in Sideways Locke so he must be killed. Some people think that it was Des's reaction to being thrown down the well. Just some random postings from Lostpedia.

As far as Pierre Chang, Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse had a lengthy interview on EW.com after the premiere of this season and said that the detonation of Jughead most likely DID NOT cause the alternate timeline (or sink the island). So people that were in the Dharma would not have died...that is why Pierre is still alive. Just like Ben and his father...in the Ben episode, they revealed they were in the Dharma and left. So obviously people went and left before it sank.

Anybody notice Locke's eye color change after he got hit, during the close-up? Cool stuff. That shot of his face was almost identical to the one after he falls from the window and is paralyzed. Could be what he needed to remember...

yeah i'm still thinking this might implode by the end rather than really tie things together.

i'm surprised they didn't bring that other crazy guy back from the institution from when hurley was there in the "real" dimension. that could've been a good tie-in, and may have been able to dig deeper into his revelation that the "numbers mean death".

i agree with the theory that desmond is fuckin shit up to see what will happen. at first i thought he figured out that locke is back and is not really locke, but the monster...it's meant to be ambiguous at this point.

If you're a fan of LOST, I recommend you check out the final 5 fan-made promos ABC has selected in their "Ultimate LOST Fan Promo Contest". The top one will be selected to air on ABC leading up the finale.

http://abc.go.com/shows/lost/fan-promo-contest-vote

I think these are actually pretty damn cool, and some actually made me sad. Bittersweet. They really grab the whole "it's your life" aspect of the show, the obsession, the thinking. I definitely have been obsessed. No clue what I will do after this show ends. Probably will be time to finally watch The Wire, The Shield, Six Feet Under, etc.

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - There's more Lost left than you think.

The producers of ABC's hit drama have shot so much crucial material for the show's hugely anticipated series finale that the network has agreed to extend the last episode by an extra half-hour.

When the Lost finale airs Sunday, May 23, the episode will run from 9 to 11:30 p.m. The overrun will air instead of the local news, with the Jimmy Kimmel Live: Aloha to Lost post-finale special remaining at 11:30 p.m. ABC is expected to announce the plan on Tuesday night's episode of Kimmel.

Executive producers Carlton Cuse and Damon Lindelof completed post-production on the finale, titled "The End," on Monday night. They sent out identical Tweets: "We're done. Amen."

Lindelof recently told The Hollywood Reporter that the crew built all-new sets for the finale, and he promised that the ending would prompt more questions.

The supersizing of the finale is the latest adjustment to what might as well be called "The Lost Weekend." ABC is airing an "enhanced" version of the show's original two-hour pilot on May 22. The following night there's a two-hour retrospective, Lost: The Final Journey, followed by the finale and Kimmel post-show.

One of the best lines of the year -

Sawyer - ...and we'll get that pilot that looks like he walked off the set of a Burt Reynolds movie...

 That was good. I would be very pleased if he were to swim to the surface on the next episode and act as if nothing really happened....

The way they are killing off main characters in a completely useless and unsatisfying manner (Locke, Sayid, Jin, Sun) I seriously doubt they give a shit about LaPedus.

i like sun and jin so i am still kind of holding out hope that somehow they're alive...the way that characters are killed off and brought back...i'm not sure what to really feel about the loss.

some of the connections in the parallel universe are kind of annoying. really? bernard? bleh...

Their death had little impact on me even though I thought it was a good scene. The show has so devalued the idea that someone can actually die that I have no doubts they will be in next week's episode.

This news concerns me more -

That's not the deal, Damon. This show is a mystery and the viewers, after having spent years trying to decipher the mystery deserve to have that resolved, not open-ended. Open ended finales work for shows like The Sopranos because the show itself was about the characters and the viewers can then interpret what the characters will move on to.

But, as a mystery, the writers don't get the ambiguous ending card. This thing has to end and end hard, so to speak.

Scooby Doo couldn't get to the end of the show and say, "Rell, it could be the old gardener or maybe it was the guy walking around the whole episode in the incredibry life-like mask, roo decide. Rut-ro, I'm hungry."

"the sopranos" wasn't originally intended to have an open-ended finale. from what i recall, after it was originally intended as a feature film, it was turned into a pilot. then, i believe it was a 4 season concept that david chase had; then he was thrown a ton of money to continue it. he left it open ended because in his mind, there was no way he could end it that would satisfy everyone. so he decided to satisfy no one.

i'm almost positive "lost" is going to generate more controversy and negative comments than positive ones. the positive ones will be apologists saying "but you have to THINK about what HAPPENED", and back pedal about what the show meant to us all.

that's just what i foresee...

I know they will about 500 questions unanswered. But, the fact that he's specifically mentioning this now makes me believe that they may not answer anything definitively.

At the end of this we should at least know,

Where they are.
Why they were "chosen" to be there.
Who Jacob and the Fake Locke is.
Where they will be when this show is over and why are they there.

Stuff like that.

They should have most of this down since, supposedly, the last page of this series was written 5 years ago and locked up. But, then, the last word in the Harry Potter books was supposed to be "scar".

My sister had a theory that was pretty intersting along the lines of the Man in Black/Fake Locke actually not being evil. Both he and Jacob have done some bogus shit. No real moral battle going on at all...

That's it exactly, Dr. Ken. I resigned myself a long time ago that a lot of the open-ended mysteries they put forth could never be resolved (even though we were promised they would be  ). But at the very least, when it's all over, we have to be able to say "ohhh, now I understand what's been going for all these years". If we can't say that, then I say they've failed.

What irks me, though, is not so much how Darlton egged everyone on that they had pre-conceived the answers to every riddle, but that they actually impugned other peoples' work along the way. They criticized by name shows like The X-Files and Twin Peaks, saying that their show would not fail to provide a satisfying resolution like those did. If you're going to find fault like that with other peoples' work, you better be able to back it up. And now as they get closer to the end, I've heard them go the other direction, and criticize Star Wars for explaining too much (i.e. a biological component to the Force), saying they won't make that mistake either.

Well whatever, I will continue to withhold judgment until the show is over. It might still go out with a great finish.

it's not really about "answering all the questions" as much as it is just completing the main story--which is WHY are they on the island in the first place, and what does it all have to do with all of the back story of the island. Why were they chosen? That has to be answered.

You can leave things unanswered; can't possibly wrap it all up especially with only a few episodes to go. But there has to be a reason why they were put on the island, why there is suddenly a parallel dimension created for them, and what is going to happen to their fates in both of those worlds (which i still think are going to collide).

the finale will most likely deal with the two worlds colliding, i feel...just fucking with the whole string theory.

'Lost' co-creators to host live Q&A session before series finale
by Brad Wete
Categories: Movies, Television
Fans of ABC’s smash series Lost will have the chance to see and question the men behind the show in a few short weeks. With Lost‘s epic 150-minute series finale set to air on May 23, show co-creators and executive producers Carlton Cuse and Damon Lindelof will host an interactive TimesTalks Live event on Thursday, May 20 at 8:00 p.m. ET. It will be moderated by New York Times entertainment editor Lorne Manly.

During the Q&A session with fans, the two will talk about how they put together their last hurrah as well as feature a teaser from the final episode. The event will be broadcast live from The Times Center in New York City to 454 select movie theaters nationwide.

-I just bought a ticket for this...showing at the Cinemark in Bloomingdale. It's also showing in pretty much every other major area in IL. Total geekness, but I can't help it.

Found out that Jacob and MIB are brothers, how they came to the island, why the are against each other, how Smokey came to be, how the wheel came about, how the Candidates started, how the "white stone/black stone" joke came about, who adam & eve were, and more....

Bravo and kudos for this ep.
