Lalo likely survives, or has an ambiguous end.
Saul was worried that Lalo sent Walt and Jesse when he was first introduced.

Saul speaks about lalo in the present tense in season two of BB but Fring taunts Hector about the Salamanca blood line basically dying once hector dies. so perhaps Lalo is dead or in prison for life during BB.

I think the end of the last episode may have been my least favorite part of the entire Breaking Bad universe. Kim is on the way to likely get her dream job and do exactly what she has been wanting to do the entire time we've known her. She's literally in the car doing it. The stupid and pointless plan that her and Jimmy are on goes a little south and Jimmy calls her to tell her on one of the most important days of her life and then she throws it all away so she can deal with a plan that they shouldn't be doing anyways because Howard isn't that bad and it's also so complicated that it's only going to get worse as they make desperate moves to try and save it. Whatever happens to her that causes her to not be involved with Jimmy once he meets Walt is will deserved. I felt far more sympathy for Nacho than I will for her.

Yep. It's why I've fast forwarded maybe thirty percent of all Jimmy and Kim scenes that don't have anything to do with the cartel. I don't give a shit.

Kim = Walter White
Jimmy = Jesse Pinkman

I'm with on Kim / Walter. Both start out likeable and prove to be highly flawed and unlikeable near the end.

Jimmy / Jesse...no. Jesse is likeable. Jimmy is pretty much a scumbag his whole existance.

there's apparently an animated series that just dropped on AMC+ called "slippin' jimmy". the animation looks like your average "family guy" style. i haven't heard any reviews on it...which typically means it's not good. but i don't have that service anyways...

they had a preview for the cartoon and it didnt look very appealing. they're trying to milk the BB universe as much as they can. I think they know Better Call Saul didn't live up to the expectations.

I'd totally watch a series focused on Fring and the Salamancas if they could be resurrected. Fuck Jimmy/Saul and his stupid scams. So tired and boring.

i heard there is another spin-off in the works...i'm not a big fan of this sort of thing. it just seems to stretch content for padding purposes than it is to further creative storytelling.

We need to know how Francesca found her way to work in the offices of Jimmy and Kim.

I am not going to ask you if you’re daft - we already know that.

What I will ask is how you reached your conclusion in your third sentence based on what you said in your first?

Got to watch the last episode today. I thought it was decent. But it doesn't change the reality of this last season so far, as a whole this first part has been bad. Definitely will be interesting to see where they take the last 6. Hopefully we see the last 6 and completely forget about how bad the first part is.

Finally got around to watching this season and was able t avoid all spoilers and this thread. Just caught up on the thread. I'm glad I'm not the only person who thought the Hamlin revenge story line was this show's jump the shark moment. So F-ing stupid. Made me want to just fastforward through any story that didn't involve the drug trade.

At this point I only care about what happens to Lalo. Couldn't possible care less about Kim's fate at this point. I think Hawaii Douche stumbled on a good idea. For the next season they should just ax Kim altogether and spend half teh show focusing on Clyde Drexler.

Ok, so what are they going to do for the final five episodes? I didn't expect tonight's event to come so quickly.

I'm thinking there will be at least one full episode with Gene, maybe at the end.

That was kind of a lame way to do that thing that they did.

Not don't watching yet so maybe I'm missing something. But not liking this Lalo plan to have Kim/Saul execute Gus. All one of them had to do was simply go to the police and then Lalo would be surrounded by cops with no way out. Now you risk Lalo executing whoever stays back but at the same time you create a chance for that person to be saved by the police taking out Lalo. If you move forward with Lalos plan then you're dead as soon as you return to the apartment. He kills you and erases any connection he has to the crime. Am I missing something?

That's exactly what I was thinking. And I found it hard to believe Kim would actually follow through with Lalo's directive.

There were other far-fetched things. How did Gus know Lalo would go to the laundromat? I don't recall it being established that Gus thought Lalo even knew about it. Plus, it's not like Lalo would know how to get in through the secret entrance. And would Gus really keep a spare gun in the backhoe?

I think Gus suspected Lalo was after the laundromat. There was an episode earlier where Gus somehow connects the German conglomerate his restaurant is under to Lalo. We also know from BB that Gus has strong intuition about things (avoiding the car bomb Walter set up). That being said the way it went down today was not convincing, so I agree in sum with you.

We saw Gus plant the gun there in an earlier episode, didn't we?

My take is that Jimmy knew- or at least believed- that neither he nor Kim would ever shoot anyone so he figured a way to get her out of there. But I guess Kim loves Jimmy so much she would do some crazy shit if she thought it may save his life.

From Lalo's perspective, I don't think he thought whichever one of Jimmy or Kim went to Gus's house was actually going to kill Gus, but that they would tie up Gus's troops and allow him a better chance to get into the lab.

It's all pretty convoluted however you slice it, but if you can suspend disbelief to the point where Walter White can destroy a harddrive with a giant magnet in a truck and take out a nest of Nazis with a trunk machine gun, you can pretty easily accept this turn of events.

Some scenes that maybe intentionally referenced Breaking Bad:

Kim making the trek to Gus' place (on the street after leaving her car) reminded of me Walt doing the same when he was trying to kill Gus

Gus intentionally getting shot in his vest = the weapons dealer getting shot in his vest by the twins

Mike coaching Kim/Saul on what to do/tell the police = Mike coaching Jesse after disposing of Jane's body

Gus slowly realizing something was off at the laundromat = Gus slowly realizing something was off with Hector just before the bomb went off

Kim being sent off to kill someone she doesn't know = Jesse being sent on a similar assignment (Gale)

my wife actually broke down in tears when they were lifting hamlin's body into the pit. she said no matter what kind of dick he was, this was a horrible way to have your life end.

there are definitely some convenient set-ups/payoffs but at least they track their steps so that you can go back and find a moment where it is introduced. there are tons of details missed in a first viewing. because this crew is so meticulous, i think they know what they're doing.

But last night’s episode was better than they had been doing.

Really curious where they go from here

It was a nice touch that Mike said "Easy" when they were about to put Hamlin in. It didn't really matter but it was a classy gesture nonetheless.

The climax of last night’s show was insanely stupid. I suppose they could’ve had Gus use a really powerful magnet to get the gun and really drive home the BB callbacks; that may have made it slightly worse.

After Kim microaggressed the wrong black guy in Fring’s house, the show fell off a cliff. Now we’re left with 5 episodes to see Kim move to Omaha, Saul redesign his office and maybe we’ll get a cameo from a young Walt Jr.

Gus' out-of-nowhere agility and marksmanship (in the dark, no less) was also annoying. And this is after Lalo took out multiple guys in three seconds to get to Gus.

I think the best of Breaking Bad (the last couple of seasons) are superior to BCS. However, I think BCS has been better overall.
